High-end GPUs pull large amounts of power through a compact 16-pin connector, so MSI is building its Safeguard protection directly into the graphics card. This implementation mirrors the protection and control features from MSI’s MPG power supplies but moves them onto the GPU-side 16-pin, so you no longer need a specific PSU to benefit. In addition, MSI is adopting server-grade reusable eFuses. These components include an internal gate-based reset mechanism that can react to short circuits in about 200ns, then be reset instead of permanently blowing.
