Xiaomi 17T Series Global Rollout Begins May 28: Specs, Pricing and India Launch Timeline

Staggered Global Launch: May 28 Worldwide, June 4 in India

Xiaomi is executing a staggered rollout for its Xiaomi 17T launch, using a global-first strategy followed by select local debuts. The 17T series will be unveiled internationally on May 28 in select markets, with the standard Xiaomi 17T confirmed to reach India on June 4. This marks the return of Xiaomi’s T-series smartphones to the Indian market after a gap of more than four years, underlining the importance of the device in the brand’s regional portfolio. Globally, Xiaomi is expected to introduce both the Xiaomi 17T and Xiaomi 17T Pro, though early reports suggest that the Pro variant may remain limited to international markets and may not be released in India. By separating the worldwide reveal from regional launches, Xiaomi gains flexibility in supply, marketing, and pricing, while building momentum through teasers and localized announcements ahead of the full 17T series rollout.

Design, Sizes and Display: Two Form Factors, Shared Premium Aesthetic

Xiaomi is clearly emphasizing design choice and visual quality with the 17T series. For the first time in this lineup, buyers will get two display sizes: a smaller model confirmed in a Violet finish and a larger Deep Blue variant. Despite the difference in size, both phones share a unified design language, including a flat metal frame, a square camera island in the top-left corner, and vertically aligned Xiaomi branding at the bottom-left of the rear panel. The power and volume buttons sit on the right edge, with a clean left side. On the front, leaks point to a 6.59-inch 1.5K LTPS AMOLED panel with an up to 120Hz AMOLED display, Dolby Vision support, and peak brightness that could reach up to 3500 nits. This combination positions the 17T series as a visually focused, entertainment-ready option within the mid-to-premium Android segment.

Dimensity 8500 Ultra Performance and Endurance-Focused Battery

Under the hood, the Xiaomi 17T is expected to use MediaTek’s Dimensity 8500 Ultra chipset, built on a 4nm process and reportedly capable of peak clock speeds up to 3.4GHz. This suggests ample headroom for gaming, multitasking, and AI-backed features, aligning the device with flagship-class performance targets while keeping thermals and power efficiency in check. The chipset is tipped to be paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and as much as 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage, giving the phone a solid platform for heavy apps and media use. Powering this hardware, a sizeable 6,500mAh battery is expected, which should translate into strong all-day endurance, especially when combined with the adaptive 120Hz refresh rate. Xiaomi’s component choices reflect an attempt to balance raw speed, storage capacity and battery life in the 17T’s mid-premium positioning.

Leica Triple Camera System: Imaging as the Key Differentiator

Photography is central to Xiaomi’s pitch for the 17T series, with Leica branding prominently featured on the hardware. The Xiaomi 17T is expected to carry a Leica-tuned triple camera setup housed inside a square module with an accompanying LED flash. Leaks indicate a 50-megapixel Light Fusion 800 primary sensor with f/1.77 aperture, a 50-megapixel telephoto lens with f/1.8 aperture and up to 5x optical zoom, and a 12-megapixel ultrawide camera with f/2.2 aperture. On the front, a 32-megapixel selfie camera is tipped. Beyond raw hardware, Xiaomi’s ongoing collaboration with Leica is aimed at improved color science, dynamic range, and low-light performance. By combining this Leica triple camera array with the processing power of the Dimensity 8500 Ultra, the 17T series is positioned to compete aggressively in the camera-first mid-to-premium smartphone category.

17T Series Pricing and What It Signals About Xiaomi’s Strategy

Leaked 17T series pricing paints a clear picture of Xiaomi’s mid-to-premium ambitions. In India, the Xiaomi 17T is tipped to start at ₹59,999 for the base configuration, with expected 12GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB storage options. Outside India, early listings and leaks suggest that the standard Xiaomi 17T may be priced at AED 2,599 (around USD 708, approx. RM3,320), PHP 33,999 (around USD 553, approx. RM2,595) for the 12GB + 256GB model and PHP 37,999 (around USD 618, approx. RM2,900) for 512GB. In Russia, reported pricing includes RUB 51,625 (around USD 725, approx. RM3,400) and RUB 54,537 (around USD 766, approx. RM3,600) for the 256GB and 512GB variants respectively. The Xiaomi 17T Pro is tipped between PHP 45,999 and PHP 47,999, and from RUB 68,535 to RUB 81,861 (roughly USD 748–1,150, approx. RM3,500–5,300), indicating a clear step-up tier within the lineup.
