Who Benefits Now—and What Comes Next for Non-Technical Workers
For now, the upgraded Claude Cowork is a privilege, not a default. Anthropic is rolling it out in beta to subscribers on its Max plan, which starts at USD 100 (approx. RM460) a month, with features expected to trickle down later to the cheaper Pro tier at USD 20 (approx. RM90) a month. Max subscribers are first in line, with other paid plans promised access in the following weeks. Alongside launch, Anthropic has doubled temporary Claude Cowork usage limits through August 5 so early adopters can run larger tasks.
In practical terms, this expansion most immediately targets the everyday bottlenecks of remote work: email follow-ups, calendar wrangling, repetitive admin tasks, and messy digital file systems. Cowork can already organize screenshots into labeled folders and help schedule events on your calendar, and it can synthesize conversations across channels into ready-to-send documents and emails. Desktop remains the place for deep work and the full Cowork experience, including access to local files and the browser, but web and mobile remove the need for a dedicated work machine. The bigger shift is cultural: non-technical workers are no longer being asked to learn scripting tools to automate their jobs; they are being invited to offload entire workflows to an AI agent that keeps working while they sleep.
