From Studio to Fully Managed AI Agent Platform
With the new managed Joule Studio, SAP is repositioning its environment from a developer tool into a full AI agent development platform. Earlier versions required customers to run Joule-built agents on their own SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) accounts, handling provisioning, connectivity, and capacity planning themselves. The latest release removes that operational burden: SAP now manages the runtime end-to-end, delivering Joule Studio “out of the box” with no infrastructure setup. Enterprises can build, deploy, and run agents and Joule skills with built-in audit logging, data privacy controls, and persistent agent memory backed by SAP HANA Cloud. This managed AI infrastructure approach lets SAP continuously infuse new capabilities—such as emerging frameworks or security layers—without customers needing to retrofit their landscapes. The result is an enterprise agentic AI foundation that scales more easily and remains aligned with SAP’s evolving technology stack.

Multi-Model AI Development with Cursor, Claude Code, and Agent Frameworks
Joule Studio SAP is designed for multi-model AI development, acknowledging that no single model or framework will fit every enterprise use case. The managed platform now supports popular coding assistants like Cursor and Claude Code, alongside agent frameworks including AutoGen and LlamaIndex. Developers can also work with other tools such as Visual Studio Code and additional agentic IDEs, while pro-code options span LangChain, Pydantic AI, and an embedded n8n environment for visual multi-agent orchestration. This openness allows teams to choose the best AI foundation for each agent task—from complex workflow orchestration to code generation and knowledge retrieval—without being locked into a single stack. By standardizing lifecycle management and governance across this heterogeneous toolset, Joule Studio enables organizations to combine best-in-class AI components under one enterprise agentic AI umbrella.

SAP Domain Models: Embedding Business Context into Agents
A critical differentiator for Joule Studio is how it grounds agents in live business context. SAP’s new SAP Domain Models family builds on the earlier SAP-RPT-1 relational foundation model, adding a second-generation SAP-ABAP-2 coding model and specialized variants for SAP S/4HANA and Ariba. Within Joule Studio, these models work alongside SAP Signavio Process Consultant Agent, SAP Knowledge Graph, and SAP LeanIX to understand processes, data semantics, and the broader application landscape, including third-party systems. When business users describe an objective in natural language, Joule Studio automatically synthesizes that intent into structured artifacts such as product requirements, technical specifications, code scaffolding, tests, and working previews. This closes the gap between business requirements and implementation, enabling AI agents that operate with deep domain awareness and reliably interact with core SAP systems and surrounding applications.
Intent-Based Development and Lifecycle Management at Enterprise Scale
Beyond tools and models, Joule Studio emphasizes end-to-end lifecycle management for agents, applications, and workflows. Intent-based development sits at the front of this lifecycle: business stakeholders specify goals in natural language, and Joule Studio generates a traceable flow from idea to deployed agent. According to SAP, customers like Sony have seen solution generation times drop from days to minutes using this approach. Developers can refine these auto-generated solutions with their preferred frameworks while retaining a consistent governance and observability layer. Because the runtime is fully managed, features such as audit trails, security policies, and data privacy protections are automatically applied across environments. This combination of high-level intent capture, pro-code flexibility, and operational standardization positions Joule Studio as an enterprise agentic AI backbone rather than just another AI app builder.

Managed Infrastructure, Partner Ecosystem, and Adoption Path
SAP’s managed Joule Studio also taps a wider ecosystem to help enterprises bring agentic AI into production. Embedded partnerships with n8n support complex multi-agent orchestration, while integration with Vercel can power custom, high-performance front-end experiences for AI agents using frameworks like Next.js—alongside SAP Fiori and UI5 for consistent enterprise UX. All of this runs on a managed AI infrastructure that abstracts provisioning, scaling, and security hardening from customer teams. To accelerate adoption, SAP is providing twelve months of free design-time access to Joule Studio for customers and partners via its Early Adopter Care program, ahead of planned general availability. Taken together, these moves show SAP’s strategy: make enterprise agentic AI practical at scale by combining multi-model AI freedom, deep SAP business context, and a fully managed, continuously updated runtime.
