What Meta’s New Plus Subscriptions Are
Meta’s new Plus subscriptions are paid upgrades for Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp that add extra customization, insights and messaging tools on top of the free apps, aimed at power users and creators who want more control over how they present themselves and interact with their audiences. Meta has rolled out Facebook Plus and Instagram Plus at $3.99 per month, and WhatsApp Plus at $2.99 per month, as separate subscriptions rather than a single bundle. These Meta paid tiers sit alongside, not instead of, Meta Verified, which still focuses on verification and support. The Plus plans are tuned differently for each app: Instagram Plus and Facebook Plus lean toward social expression and audience engagement, while WhatsApp Plus focuses on messaging personalization and chat management. Meta says more features will be added over time as it refines what heavy users are willing to pay for.

Facebook Plus Subscription: Extras for Profiles and Stories
Facebook Plus is built around profile polish and richer Story tools. Subscribers can access Story rewatch insights, which show how audiences return to view Stories again, and Story previews that let them see Stories without appearing in viewer lists. Animated Super Reactions add more expressive replies beyond standard reactions, and extended Story availability lets Stories stay live longer than the default 24 hours. Users also get profile personalization options, including custom fonts, app icons and extra profile pins that highlight key posts or links. For people who rely on Facebook to maintain a public persona or grow a community, this tier is designed to deepen engagement rather than remove ads. However, it is sold separately from Instagram Plus, so anyone active on both networks will need two subscriptions if they want the full spread of Meta paid tiers.

Instagram Plus Features: Audience Control and Creative Tools
Instagram Plus goes further into creator-style controls. Subscribers can spotlight one Story per week for extra reach and extend Story duration beyond 24 hours, turning ephemeral posts into longer-running showcases. They can preview Stories without appearing as a viewer, see Story rewatch insights, and search Story viewers to understand who is engaging. Audience control is a major draw: unlimited audience lists go beyond the usual Close Friends, making it easier to segment followers for tailored Stories. Instagram Plus also adds profile customization with custom fonts, alternative app icons and more profile pins. Another notable perk is posting directly to a profile without pushing content into follower feeds, useful for curating grids without cluttering timelines. According to Meta’s head of product Naomi Gleit, more features will continue to be added to these plans over time as the company experiments with premium tools.
WhatsApp Plus Pricing and Personalisation Perks
WhatsApp Plus is a different proposition from the social-focused upgrades on Facebook and Instagram. Priced at $2.99 per month, it concentrates on personalization and heavy-chat features rather than audience insights. Subscribers can apply custom app themes, set personal ringtones, and access premium sticker packs to make conversations more lively. Expanded pinned chats are useful for people juggling many conversations, keeping more threads locked to the top of their inbox. List customization tools help organize contacts and groups, building on recent additions like member tags and text stickers. For users who spend most of their time in private or group chats and want a more tailored messaging environment, these WhatsApp Plus pricing and feature changes are aimed at utility rather than public visibility. It remains a separate subscription, so it does not unlock perks on Instagram or Facebook.
Meta One, AI Plans and Whether Plus Is Worth It
Alongside the consumer Plus tiers, Meta is testing Meta One, a broader subscription hub that will eventually group AI, creator and business offerings. Early tests include Meta One Plus at $7.99 per month and Meta One Premium at $19.99 per month for Meta AI users, with the Premium option offering higher compute capacity for complex reasoning, and expanded image and video generation. Meta says these AI tiers will later add benefits for smart glasses users. For now, though, Plus subscriptions are stand-alone upgrades: they do not form a bundle and do not replace Meta Verified. Whether Facebook Plus, Instagram Plus or WhatsApp Plus is worth paying for depends on how much you rely on Stories, profile presentation and chat organization. If those features are central to how you use Meta’s apps, the new Meta paid tiers may offer targeted value without changing the core free experience.
