AI Automation Becomes Central to Adobe Creative Cloud Updates
Adobe Creative Cloud updates across Lightroom, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator introduce AI automation features that focus on reducing repetitive editing tasks, improving culling, masking, and motion creation, and giving creatives faster ways to refine images and video projects without leaving their main workflow. These Adobe Creative Cloud updates, which spotlight AI automation in Photoshop and Premiere Pro AI features alongside Lightroom AI editing, mark a shift toward integrated, task-specific models that run both online and on-device. According to Social Samosa, the new tools are designed to improve efficiency for photography, video editing, design, and image editing in one coordinated release. Beyond individual features, Adobe is also strengthening technical foundations, from updated color management in Photoshop 27.8 to performance gains enabled through platform-level collaboration, aiming to make AI assistance feel like part of everyday production rather than a separate step.
Lightroom AI Editing and Smarter Photo Workflows
Lightroom receives some of the most clearly workflow-focused changes, aimed at speeding the early stages of photo projects. Assisted Culling is now generally available, combining Face View to analyse whether subjects’ eyes are open and how sharp they are with Stacking that groups similar shots and recommends the strongest image. Customisable filters and precision dials keep photographers in control while trimming down tedious manual review. Photo to Video turns stills into motion b-roll or reels using Firefly and Google Veo, guided by smart prompts from the image or user input. AI Sharpen embeds Topaz Labs’ Noise-Aware Sharpen model directly in Lightroom so fine details such as petals, fur, and foliage can be recovered without exporting. All Sony RAW formats from the Sony Alpha 7R VI are now supported across Lightroom, Lightroom Classic, and Adobe Camera Raw, keeping the AI features aligned with current camera workflows.
Premiere Pro AI Features and After Effects Object Matte
In video, Premiere Pro gains tools that streamline common edit and audio chores. Global Audio Mute silences app-wide sound in one click, while Marker Search lets editors find any marker by colour or name across open projects. Channel Blur, Gradient, and Noise FX add more options for compositing or textured motion inside the timeline, joined by 3D Spinback and Slide transitions with easing controls. Single Word Captioning helps refine accessibility and timing, and a more refined Object Mask speeds AI-powered masking. The new Stock Panel Checkout keeps Adobe Stock licensing inside Premiere, and sequences can be created automatically when multiple Firefly board assets enter a project. After Effects takes AI deeper into rotoscoping with Object Matte, which combines Object Selection, Quick Selection, Selection Brush, and Refine Edge to replace the old brush-only Roto Brush workflow. Expanded 3D features add displacement maps, Depth of Field controls, and scripting APIs for parametric meshes.
Photoshop 27.8: Custom AI Models, OCIO 2.5, and On-Device Tools
Photoshop’s latest updates mix headline AI automation with pipeline-level changes. Reflection Removal detects and removes reflections from glass shots while keeping the original image on a separate layer, cutting a common retouching chore. The Remove Tool now taps an on-device generative AI model that can work offline, keeping basic object removal available even without a network connection. Photoshop 27.8 extends AI automation further through Generate Image, which can now use custom AI models trained on 10–30 of a user’s own images to better match their visual style. Training a custom model consumes 500 generative credits and each generation uses 20 credits. The release also supports OpenColorIO 2.5 with ACES 2.0 configs, aligning Photoshop with current VFX Reference Platform colour standards. According to CG Channel, Photoshop 27.8 is referred to as the June 2026 release and continues Adobe’s move toward integrated AI content creation and colour-managed pipelines.
Performance, Subscription Context, and Illustrator Workflow Tweaks
Beyond AI features, Adobe is investing in performance and workflow continuity. Through collaboration with Microsoft, native C++ optimisation on Windows improves Photoshop performance by about 20%, giving users faster response when working with AI tools and colour-managed files. Photoshop 27.8 remains rental-only, with Photography subscription plans that include Photoshop priced at USD 29.99 (approx. RM140) per month or USD 239.88 (approx. RM1,120) per year, while single-app Photoshop subscriptions cost USD 34.49 (approx. RM160) per month or USD 263.88 (approx. RM1,230) per year. After Effects now supports SVG import as editable shape layers, keeping gradients, strokes, and transparency intact, and a new copy–paste flow from Illustrator brings vector content across without conversion. Illustrator itself receives workflow tweaks that continue Adobe’s aim of making AI-driven and traditional design tools sit side by side, reducing friction when moving content between apps in a Creative Cloud pipeline.
