The One UI 9 status bar network speed indicator is a Good Lock-powered feature that shows your current internet throughput in real time, right beside your existing status icons, so you can monitor data usage and connection quality at a glance without opening any apps or widgets. Samsung has added this long-requested option through an updated version of its QuickStar module, bringing Galaxy phone features closer to what many other Android skins have offered for years. When turned on, the indicator updates dynamically while you download apps, stream video, or browse, switching units between KB/s, MB/s, and GB/s depending on how much data you are transferring. It works with both Wi-Fi and mobile data, and can be combined with other Good Lock customization tools to fine-tune how crowded or minimal your One UI 9 status bar looks during daily use.
Check If Your Galaxy Phone Supports the Feature
Before you change your One UI 9 status bar, confirm that your Galaxy phone supports the updated QuickStar module. The feature first appeared for users enrolled in the One UI 9 beta on the Galaxy S26 series, and it requires the latest One UI version plus the newest Good Lock build. If you are on a compatible device, you should see QuickStar listed inside the Good Lock customization suite in the Galaxy Store. Make sure both Good Lock and its modules are updated so the new options appear. While the beta is currently confirmed for the Galaxy S26 line, Samsung has not yet shared the complete list of models that will eventually receive the network speed indicator. If you do not see the setting, you may need to wait for the stable One UI 9 update or a future Good Lock release tailored to your device.
How to Enable Network Speed in the One UI 9 Status Bar
Once Good Lock and QuickStar are ready, turning on the network speed indicator takes only a few taps. Open the Good Lock app on your Galaxy phone and select the QuickStar module from the list of available tools. Inside QuickStar, go to the section labeled “Visibility of Indicator Icons,” which controls what appears on the One UI 9 status bar. Scroll through the options until you find “Network Speed,” then toggle this setting on. According to The Tech Outlook, this makes the real-time indicator appear next to your existing icons whenever your phone is connected to Wi-Fi or mobile data. You will see the readout change as you stream, download, or upload, letting you track when your connection slows down or spikes. If you change your mind later, you can return to QuickStar and switch the same toggle off.
Use Good Lock to Disable Live Activities for a Cleaner Look
Beyond the network speed indicator, One UI 9’s version of QuickStar adds a new control for live activities in the status bar. This appears as a toggle for the “Ongoing Chip” or Now Bar, an expandable element that shows timers, incoming and ongoing calls, countdowns, voice recordings, and other session-based tasks. Android Authority notes that disabling this toggle turns off those live chips, giving you a cleaner status area if you prefer fewer moving elements at the top of your screen. To use it, open Good Lock, launch QuickStar, and look for the Ongoing Chip or Now Bar option in the same customization section. Turn it off to hide live activities, or back on if you rely on those quick controls. Combined with the new network speed indicator, this lets you decide whether your One UI 9 status bar focuses on information density or simplicity.
