What the Android 17 Update Means for Your Phone

Android 17 eligible devices are phones and tablets that manufacturers plan to update to Google’s next major Android version, often together with a new custom interface such as HyperOS or ColorOS, and knowing whether your device qualifies helps you decide if you should keep it, sell it, or upgrade. With Android 17 right around the corner, brands are preparing their own skins: Xiaomi with HyperOS 4 and Oppo with ColorOS 17. While Google defines the core Android features, each manufacturer controls which models receive the update and when. That means two similar-looking phones can have completely different software futures. This guide explains how eligibility is decided, lists Xiaomi and Oppo models expected to receive Android 17, and shows how you can check your own device against official and leak-based Android 17 phone lists from each brand.

Xiaomi Android 17 Eligible Devices with HyperOS 4

Xiaomi is expected to pair Android 17 with HyperOS 4, and early information points to an extensive Android 17 phone list across Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO. In the Xiaomi flagship line, the Xiaomi 17, 17 Ultra, 17T, 17T Pro, 15, 15 Pro, 15 Ultra, 15T, 15T Pro, 14, 14 Pro, 14 Ultra, 14T, 14T Pro, 14 Civi, 13T, 13T Pro, and the Xiaomi Mix Flip are all expected to get the HyperOS 4 update based on Android 17. Redmi users are covered through the Note 15, Note 15 4G, Note 15 Pro (and 4G), Note 15 Pro+, Note 15 Special, Note 14 4G, Note 14 Pro, Note 14 Pro+, Note 14S, plus the Redmi 15 series and A7 series. According to ProPakistani, "if a device is included in the list, it should receive HyperOS 4 based on Android 17 once Xiaomi starts the rollout later this year."

Redmi, POCO and Xiaomi Tablets Getting HyperOS 4

Beyond core Xiaomi flagships, many Redmi and POCO phones—and even tablets—are expected to join the Android 17 eligible devices list through HyperOS 4. In the Redmi line, the Turbo 5, Redmi 15, 15 4G, 15C, 15C 4G, 15A, plus Redmi A7, A7 Pro, A7 Pro 4G, and A5 are tipped for the update, as well as Redmi Pad 2, Pad 2 Pro, and Pad 2 9.7. POCO users can look forward to HyperOS 4 on POCO F8 Pro, F8 Ultra, F7, F7 Pro, F7 Ultra, F6, F6 Pro, X8 Pro, X8 Pro Max, X7, X7 Pro, X6 Pro, and a wide M and C series selection including POCO M8 and C85 families, plus POCO Pad X1, Pad M1, and Pad C1. Xiaomi has a history of shipping new HyperOS builds on older Android versions, so some models may receive HyperOS 4 without Android 17, with fewer features.

Oppo ColorOS 17 Compatibility: Full Eligible Device List

Oppo’s Android 17 rollout will arrive as ColorOS 17, and leaks already outline a broad ColorOS 17 compatibility list spanning foldables, flagships, mid-range phones, and tablets. In the Find N series, the Find N6, N5, N3, N3 Flip, N2, and N2 Flip are all expected to get the update. The Find X line includes Find X9, X9 Pro, X9 Ultra, X9s, X8, X8 Pro, X8 Ultra, X7, X7 Ultra, X6, and X6 Pro. The Reno lineup is also well covered, from Reno 15 variants (15, 15 Pro, Pro Mini, Pro Max, 15 F, 15 FS) down through Reno 14, 13, 12, and 11 families. Oppo F and K ranges (F33, F31, F29, and K13 series) plus Oppo Pad 5, Pad 3, and Pad SE are also on the list. Gizmochina notes that Oppo has not yet published an official ColorOS 17 device list, so details may still change.

How to Check If Your Phone Will Get Android 17

Device eligibility for Android 17 varies by manufacturer, model year, and each phone’s update policy, so the safest method is to compare your model against official or well-sourced Android 17 phone lists. For Xiaomi, leaked lists are based on published support windows for Xiaomi, Redmi, and POCO devices and will likely be refined once the HyperOS 4 rollout plan is announced. For Oppo, analysts examined each device’s stated update policy to build a near-final ColorOS 17 compatibility list, but Oppo A-series phones remain uncertain. To check your own device, confirm the exact model name in Settings, then compare it to the latest eligibility page on your brand’s official site or trusted tech publications. If your phone sits one generation below the last confirmed model, it may miss Android 17 even if it still receives minor security or skin updates.
