KPMG is expanding its long-running collaboration with Microsoft by adopting Microsoft Agent 365 to manage how AI agents are deployed, monitored, and updated across its global operations. At the same time, KPMG member firms are rolling out Microsoft 365 Copilot across a workforce of more than 276,000 professionals, two years after the initial deployment. According to KPMG Global Chief Digital Officer Lisa Heneghan, this expansion is a “key step in embedding responsible AI into the heart of our culture and helping clients do the same.” Agent 365 reinforces KPMG’s Workbench ecosystem, creating a single plane of control for agents that act across systems, data, and business processes. For clients, this becomes a blueprint: governance, risk, and compliance frameworks are built in from the start, helping organizations move from small-scale use cases to trusted, enterprise AI agents deployment.

Atos: A Secure Agentic AI Workforce at Full Scale

Atos is taking a workforce-wide approach to secure agentic AI, rolling out Microsoft 365 Copilot to all 56,000 employees across 54 countries and standardizing on Microsoft 365 E7. This platform brings together Microsoft 365 Copilot, Microsoft 365 E5 security and compliance, and Microsoft Agent 365 as a unified control plane. End-to-end governance is central: Agent 365 will manage a fast-growing population of 19,000 AI agents through existing admin and security workflows. Frédéric Aubrière, Atos Group Chief Digital & Information Officer, calls it “the most significant technology investment in our people that Atos has made in a generation.” Atos is also using Microsoft Copilot Studio and Microsoft Foundry to design, build, and operate agents under a single operating model, forming the technology backbone of its Sovereign Agentic AI studios aimed at bringing AI safely into production for clients in regulated sectors.

Security-First Agent Platforms Replace Fragmented AI Experiments

The common thread in these moves is a security-first foundation for AI digital transformation strategy. Microsoft 365 E7, used by Atos, combines Microsoft 365 Copilot enterprise capabilities with advanced security and compliance, while Agent 365 becomes the observation and control layer for agents across the business. For KPMG, Agent 365 strengthens its Trusted AI framework, making it possible to manage ownership, lifecycle, and risk for agents in a consistent way. Instead of one-off bots built team by team, organizations can now register, monitor, and secure agents centrally, including those acting on behalf of users or with their own credentials. This approach turns AI into part of the core IT and security stack rather than a side project. It also makes it easier for security, risk, and compliance teams to apply the same standards to agents that they already use for applications and identities.

Consulting Firms Use Their Own AI Transformations as Proof Points

Both KPMG and Atos are positioning their internal transformations as living case studies for clients who are cautious about enterprise AI agents deployment. KPMG firms are using Microsoft 365 Copilot in everyday audit, tax, and advisory work, and then applying the same Agent 365 governance model to help clients build agent-powered operating models. Client examples such as Integra LifeSciences and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants show how organizations can embed Microsoft Copilot enterprise tools into supply chain, regulatory, and member support functions while tracking adoption and return on investment. Atos is following a similar pattern, reinforcing joint go-to-market initiatives with Microsoft and using its own secure agentic AI workforce deployment to guide customers, especially in regulated industries. The message is clear: trusted AI adoption now starts at home, and firms that can show their own scaled deployments have a stronger foundation for advising others.
