KPMG’s expanded alliance with Microsoft centres on making enterprise AI agents safe enough and integrated enough for use across complex global operations. Microsoft Agent 365 becomes the control plane inside KPMG’s Workbench ecosystem, giving centralized visibility into agents that move across systems, data and workflows. According to KPMG Global Chief Digital Officer Lisa Heneghan, scaling AI with Copilot and Agent 365 “requires strong foundations in governance, visibility and accountability.” That principle is reflected in how KPMG supports clients: it is not only deploying Copilot internally but also helping organizations move AI agents into production with clear governance, risk and compliance frameworks. Atos Group: Workforce-Wide Agentic AI and Sovereign Studios
Atos Group’s collaboration with Microsoft pushes the same model even further by making agentic AI deployment a company-wide standard. The group is rolling out Microsoft 365 Copilot to 56,000 employees across 54 countries, supported by the Microsoft 365 E7 platform that unifies Copilot, E5 security features and Agent 365. This stack allows Atos to govern a fast-growing population of 19,000 AI agents through one solution, covering agents that act for users, agents with their own credentials and agents from the Atos ecosystem under shared admin and security workflows. Atos is also using Copilot Studio and Microsoft Foundry to design and operate agents for internal IT, business functions and client services, all fed into its Sovereign Agentic AI studios. These studios aim to bring secure AI agents into production for clients, especially in regulated sectors that demand strong oversight.
Why Integration with Existing Platforms Matters
For enterprise AI agents to deliver clear value, they must plug into the systems where work already happens. Both KPMG and Atos are aligning agents with familiar platforms like Microsoft 365 so employees can use AI within Outlook, Teams, Word or Excel rather than switching tools. Beyond productivity suites, the next step is tight AI agent integration with CRM, project management, and industry-specific platforms so agents can act on live operational data. KPMG describes this as integrating AI across systems and workflows to drive measurable business outcomes, not isolated experimentation. Atos’ choice of Microsoft 365 E7, with Work IQ and security tools such as Entra, Defender, Intune and Purview, reflects the same need: a unified environment where secure AI agents can read, write and trigger actions across interconnected services while remaining visible to IT and security teams.
Security and Governance as the Differentiator
As organizations scale enterprise AI agents, security and governance are becoming the main differentiators between experimental use and dependable enterprise platforms. Both case studies place Microsoft Agent 365 at the centre of their strategies because it provides a single plane for observing, governing and securing AI agents across the enterprise. For KPMG, this reinforces its Trusted AI framework with clear ownership, lifecycle management and compliance controls. For Atos, Agent 365 and the Microsoft 365 E7 stack create end-to-end agent governance, using existing admin and security workflows.
