What Samsung’s AI Transformation (AX) Really Is
Samsung’s AI Transformation (AX) is a company-wide effort to make artificial intelligence part of every employee’s daily work, combining mandatory training, access to generative AI tools, and new AI-focused teams to reshape how tasks are completed and decisions are made across the entire group. Announced on 9 June, the initiative goes beyond product features and moves AI into Samsung’s internal operations. The company plans to integrate AI into software development, marketing, manufacturing, and business management, treating AI as a core work tool rather than an optional add-on. According to Gizmochina, Samsung aims to provide AI education to its entire workforce of roughly 280,000 employees by the end of 2026, marking one of its largest internal change programs to date. The goal is clear: turn AI from a specialist skill into a basic requirement for everyone on the payroll.

A Mandatory Generative AI Bootcamp for Leadership
Samsung’s AI Transformation starts at the top with an intensive generative AI bootcamp aimed at its most senior leaders. More than 50 group presidents will attend a two-day AX Bootcamp at the Samsung Human Resources Development Institute, where the company is expected to unveil its group-wide AX Vision and lay out how AI will shape strategy and operations. Around 2,300 senior executives will then go through separate three-day training sessions, with the first round set to finish by mid-August. These sessions are not optional; they are designed to set a clear example that AI literacy is now a leadership responsibility. TechNave reports that the bootcamp will focus on practical AI use in decision-making and workflow automation, preparing executives to push AI adoption into every business unit, not just the technology-focused teams.
Forced Familiarity: ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude for Every Employee
At the heart of Samsung’s employee AI training strategy is enforced familiarity with multiple generative AI platforms. As part of the AX rollout, the company will provide access to external services including ChatGPT, Google Gemini, and Claude, and expects employees across subsidiaries to use them in their daily work. These tools are intended to support a wide range of tasks: drafting code, generating marketing copy, summarizing documents, suggesting process improvements, and assisting with manufacturing and operations planning. This is more than a pilot project; it is structured ChatGPT workplace adoption paired with a generative AI bootcamp mindset. Samsung’s plan is to remove excuses by ensuring that everyone has the tools and training they need, while newly formed AI departments in each subsidiary will guide the safe, effective use of these systems inside existing processes and internal platforms.
From Productivity Play to AI-First Workplace Culture
While Samsung is framing AX around productivity, the deeper shift is cultural. The program signals a move toward an AI-first workplace, where employee AI training is as standard as onboarding to email or office software. By making AI bootcamps mandatory and tying them to leadership expectations, Samsung is treating AI as a shared language that every function must understand. The company says the initiative aims to increase productivity, accelerate work automation, and promote widespread adoption of AI among employees and management. That means engineers and factory managers, marketers and finance staff are all expected to rethink how they approach tasks. If successful, AX could turn Samsung into a reference case for large-scale AI transformation, showing how one of the world’s biggest employers can restructure its internal operations around generative AI rather than bolting it on at the edges.
