The middle battery option is a 61 kWh lithium iron phosphate pack using a cell-to-pack layout, improving energy density and durability. LFP chemistry changes the user experience in a way spec sheets rarely show: you can frequently charge to 100% without worrying about long-term battery health. That, plus thermal management that pushes wallbox charging efficiency to nearly 90%, makes this car less about headline charging peaks and more about consistent, low-loss daily use. It is efficiency as a system, not a party trick.
Everyday usability, not drag-strip glory
Crucially, the A2 e-tron’s ultra-low energy consumption is not achieved by stripping away practicality. Audi’s brief was to build an EV smaller than the Q4 e-tron that goes far on a relatively small battery, while indirectly filling the gap left by the A1 and Q2. That means real seats, usable space and an interior that borrows heavily from recent Audi models rather than its ID.3 cousin, echoing the Q3’s digital layout even if it lacks the tactile charm of older cabins.
Where many compact EVs chase performance figures, the A2 e-tron aims at cost-conscious buyers who care more about low running costs than 0–100 km/h bragging rights. Bidirectional charging allows the car to act as home backup or power external devices via Vehicle-to-Load, with availability tied to specific markets and hardware. As Audi puts it, this “is not about wild features or flashy numbers, but it is a car that is designed for day-in, day-out electric driving with low running costs.”

Optimise a hatchback solely for aerodynamics, and you end up with something A2-shaped—it was almost inevitable.
