What the Vivo S60 Series Is and Why It Matters

The Vivo S60 series is a pair of mid-to-upper range smartphones that combine a 7,200mAh battery, 144Hz AMOLED display, and 50MP selfie camera with different chipsets to target performance-focused and value-focused buyers in the same family. Vivo has launched two models: the standard S60 and the S60 Vitality Edition. Both go on sale from June 3 through Vivo’s online store after being unveiled on May 29. The S60 sits higher in the lineup with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, advanced cameras including a periscope telephoto, and higher memory options. The S60 Vitality Edition trades some camera hardware and processing power for a lower starting price while retaining the same display size, battery capacity, and fast charging. This shared hardware foundation makes the S60 series one of the most notable 7200mAh battery phone launches in the mid-range space this cycle.

Display and Design: 144Hz AMOLED and Slim 8mm Body

Both the Vivo S60 and S60 Vitality Edition are built around a 6.59-inch 1.5K (1,260 x 2,750) 144Hz AMOLED display, aiming at users who care about smooth scrolling and gaming. The panel supports HDR, 100 percent DCI-P3 color gamut, 1.07 billion colors, 459ppi pixel density, and a 300Hz touch sampling rate on the S60, giving these phones clear credentials for the 144Hz AMOLED display crowd. Vivo wraps this screen in a metal frame and a "cold-carved" glass back, with IP68 and IP69 ratings for dust and water resistance and an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner. Despite the huge battery, the chassis comes in at around 8mm thick, positioning the S60 series as unusually slim for this capacity class. Color options include Early Summer Green, Midsummer Night’s Dream, and the textured Sea of Stars finish that blends into the camera module.

Battery and Charging: 7,200mAh Capacity With 90W Fast Charging

Battery design is the headline story for the S60 series. Both models carry a 7,200mAh battery paired with 90W wired fast charging, a combination that is still rare even among premium devices. According to MyMobile India, “both models feature a 7,200mAh battery with 90W fast charging,” giving them the endurance to match their fast screens and camera features. The capacity should appeal to heavy social media users, gamers, and commuters who need their phone to last well beyond a single day. Fast charging helps offset the sheer size of the battery, cutting recharge anxiety even for power users. This balance is central to Vivo’s pitch: the company has built a 7200mAh battery phone that does not feel like a brick, thanks to the slim frame, while also backing it with water resistance and stereo speakers so it can function as a primary entertainment and content creation device.

Chipsets and Performance: Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 vs Dimensity 7500

Under the hood, the two phones take different routes to mid-to-upper range performance. The Vivo S60 uses Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, a 4nm chipset with a 3GHz prime core, four performance cores at 2.8GHz, and three efficiency cores at 2GHz, plus an Adreno 735 GPU. It is paired with up to 16GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage, aiming at users who game, multitask heavily, or create a lot of media. The S60 Vitality Edition opts for MediaTek’s Dimensity 7500 chipset instead, positioning it as a more affordable option while still promising capable everyday performance and gaming at medium settings. Both phones run Android 16 with OriginOS 6, and the shared hardware extras—stereo speakers, X-axis linear motor, infrared blaster—round out the experience. For buyers comparing Vivo S60 specs, the choice largely comes down to whether they value the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 power and camera extras over the lower entry price.

Cameras and Creator Features: 50MP Selfie and 4K Live Tools

Vivo is pitching the S60 series heavily to content creators, starting with a 50MP front camera on both models. This sensor supports 4K video recording, and the phones add an array of Live imaging tools such as 4K Live capture, Live color grading, Cool White Portrait, and a Starlight Live effect that overlays animated sparkles on bright spots in photos and videos. On the rear, the S60 carries a triple-camera array: 50MP main with OIS, 8MP ultra-wide, and a 50MP Sony IMX882 periscope telephoto with 3x optical zoom and up to 100x digital zoom. The S60 Vitality Edition keeps the 50MP main and 8MP ultra-wide but omits the periscope lens, trimming cost while keeping familiar shooting options. A 3D Spatial Visual Effects feature can turn Live Photos into glasses-free 3D-style clips by reacting to tilts and shakes, giving the S60 series some eye-catching social media tricks.
