What One UI 9’s Unified Call Log Is and Why It Matters
One UI 9’s unified call log is a new Samsung Phone app feature that combines call history from the native dialer and supported third-party apps, such as WhatsApp and Google Meet, into a single, searchable list so you no longer need to jump between separate apps to find when, how, and with whom you last spoke. Built on Android 17’s new call log integration capability, this update means audio and video calls from selected apps now sit side by side with your regular cellular calls in the stock dialer. According to SamMobile, the change is part of a small set of One UI 9 features but has a big impact on everyday call history consolidation. For many users, this brings Samsung phones closer to the convenience iPhone owners have had for years with a unified call history.

How the Samsung Phone App Now Combines All Your Calls
With One UI 9, the Samsung Phone app becomes a hub for all supported calls. Open the dialer and your unified call log shows regular network calls mixed with WhatsApp and Google Meet entries in one continuous list, grouped by time like any standard call history. You can tap a WhatsApp or Meet item to see details such as call type, time, and duration, then return with a single back press instead of switching apps. SamMobile reports that both audio and video calls are supported, although Telegram does not yet appear in the log. Digital Trends notes that Samsung’s Now Brief feature also recognizes WhatsApp and Meet activity, so it stops telling you to call contacts you already spoke with over those apps. The result is smoother call history consolidation and fewer gaps in your recent interactions.

Turning Unified Call History On or Off
The unified call log is enabled by default in One UI 9, but Samsung lets you keep control over what appears in your history. To adjust it, open the Samsung Phone app, tap the three-dot menu, go to Settings, then choose Other call settings. From there, select Other calling apps and you will see a list of compatible services. You can toggle each one on or off, deciding whether WhatsApp or Google Meet calls should appear in the Phone app’s call log. Digital Trends confirms that you can "disable history from individual apps" if you prefer the old, separate layout. This is useful if you share your phone, value a cleaner log, or use some calling apps for work and others for personal conversations and want to keep those records distinct.
Where This Fits in the Future of One UI and Android
Samsung’s unified call log rides on Android 17’s third-party call log integration, which means the idea is bigger than One UI alone. SamMobile explains that "more third-party calling apps could adopt the feature in the future as Android 17 becomes more widely available," hinting that services beyond WhatsApp and Google Meet may soon appear in the Samsung Phone app. Digital Trends adds that Google plans a similar unified call log for Android 16 devices using the Google Phone app, but Samsung is offering this quality-of-life upgrade first on its Galaxy S26 series via the One UI 9 beta. For Samsung users, this brings their phones closer to the long-standing iOS model, where FaceTime and other app-based calls already show up alongside regular calls in a single, unified history.
