Then came the software work: installing a modern 32-bit Debian Linux build and compiling the Vanilla project from source so the Q1 could speak Wii U over the air. Even this imperfect experiment—glitchy video, maxed-out CPU, and performance that falls well short of the original GamePad—shows how far repurposed gaming hardware can be pushed before the silicon protests.
