Finding real Black Friday kitchen appliance deals in Malaysia is mostly about knowing what an air fryer or a pan normally sells for, so you can tell a real discount from a padded one. 2. Toshiba 1.8L Digital Rice Cooker (RC-18DH1NMY)

Around RM219 at TBM. A no-fuss family rice cooker with a 1.8L capacity, a 2.2mm five-layer non-stick inner pot, a detachable inner lid, 11 automatic menus and a 30-minute quick-cook mode. On Lazada it was a little cheaper when we checked, sold by EKS Exprez, which lists itself as an authorised Toshiba dealer. A sensible buy for families who cook rice every day.

3. Tefal Mini Far Infrared IH Rice Cooker 0.6L (RK887F)

Around RM699 at Harvey Norman and RM709 at TBM. This compact cooker holds 0.6L, or 3.5 cups, and combines Tefal's far-infrared heating with induction heating in a spherical pot. It has presets for white and brown rice, porridge, congee, soup and steaming, plus voice guidance. Tefal's own LazMall store had it at about the same price when we checked. Worth it for one or two people who eat rice daily and care about texture — a bigger family will want a bigger pot.

4. Cornell 550ml Portable Kettle (CPK55WH)

Around RM126 at Harvey Norman. A 550ml travel kettle that weighs 0.63kg, with five temperature settings: 45°C for milk, 55°C for honey, 85°C for tea, 90°C for coffee and 100°C to boil. The inside is seamless SUS304 stainless steel, the double wall stays cool to the touch, and it has boil-dry protection and a leak-proof design for carrying in a bag. On Lazada from Cornell's own store for about the same price. Handy for the office, a hostel room or making baby formula at night.

5. Tefal Ingenio Serenity 11-Piece Set

Around RM529 at Tefal Malaysia's online store, and the same at Tefal's LazMall store. The set has two frying pans, a wok pan, two saucepans with glass lids, two storage lids and two detachable handles, and Tefal says the stacked set saves up to twice as much space as ordinary pots and pans. It works on gas, electric, ceramic and induction hobs, goes in the oven without the handles and glass lids, and the handle carries a 10-year guarantee. On Lazada in Calm Blue or Pink Clay. Ideal for a new home or a kitchen short on cupboard space.

6. ZWILLING Simplify Stainless Steel Frying Pan

Around RM168, RM208 and RM248 at Isetan KL for the 20cm, 24cm and 28cm sizes. ZWILLING's own Lazada store sells each size for a little less, and all three as a set for under RM500. The uncoated 18/10 stainless steel is made for searing meat and is safe with metal utensils, the SIGMA Classic base spreads heat evenly and works on induction, and the pan is oven-safe to 180°C and dishwasher-safe. 7. ZWILLING Madura Plus Saucepan with Lid (20cm)

Around RM219 at Isetan KL, and slightly less at ZWILLING's own Lazada store. It is made in Italy from forged aluminium, with a three-layer DuraSlide granite non-stick coating that ZWILLING says is 40 times more durable than traditional coatings, and a plasma primer base that lets you use metal utensils. 8. La gourmet Aura 28cm Deep Frypan with Steamer Insert

Around RM329 at La gourmet's online store. The Lazada listing we found was the same price but from a third-party seller, so we link the brand's own store. The 5.2L deep frypan comes with a steamer insert, is made of 18/10 stainless steel with a multi-ply core, has cool-touch silicone handles and carries a five-year warranty. See it at La gourmet. A practical choice for home cooks who want to stir-fry and steam fish or buns in one pan.
