SwitchBot’s New Standing Circulator Fan Brings Matter Support and Cordless Flexibility

SwitchBot’s New Standing Circulator Fan Brings Matter Support and Cordless Flexibility

From Desk Fan to Flexible Smart Home Fan

SwitchBot has revamped its circulator into a more versatile SwitchBot standing fan that doubles as both a desk and floor unit. The new Standing Circulator Fan offers three height options—47.3cm, 73.6cm, and 100cm—so it can sit beside a bed, on a worktop, or stand in the corner of a room. At its core, this is still a smart home fan aimed at improving air circulation year-round, helping move cool air during warmer months and pushing warm air down in colder seasons. A DC brushless motor and SwitchBot’s “SilenTech” design deliver air speeds up to 6.1m/s while keeping noise as low as 22dB in Baby Mode, making it suitable for bedrooms and nurseries. With 90º automatic horizontal oscillation and 100º vertical adjustment, the fan can cover a wide area without constant repositioning.

Built-In Battery Turns It into a Truly Portable, Battery Powered Fan

One of the biggest changes in the updated model is the built-in 2400mAh rechargeable battery, which shifts the fan from a static appliance to a more mobile, battery powered fan. SwitchBot claims up to 28 hours of runtime in Baby Mode, allowing light, continuous airflow throughout the day or night without needing a power outlet nearby. The fan also includes a USB-C port, so it can be powered via a portable battery pack for even greater flexibility when moving between rooms. This cordless capability complements the standing design, making it easier to place the fan where airflow is needed most—whether beside a sleeping child, near an air conditioner, or next to an air purifier. A built-in night light with two brightness levels further reinforces its role as a bedroom-friendly device and marks another upgrade over the previous model.

Matter Compatible Fan—But Only with a SwitchBot Hub

The standout smart upgrade is Matter compatibility, positioning the Standing Circulator as a Matter compatible fan that can span multiple ecosystems. However, the fan itself is not a direct Matter device; it requires a SwitchBot hub that supports Matter to expose controls to platforms like Apple Home and Home Assistant. Once linked through the hub, users can also integrate voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. Through the SwitchBot app, fan speed can be finely tuned from 1–100%, and timers can be scheduled for automation scenarios such as pre-cooling a room before bedtime. Apple Home support, though, is currently basic—limited essentially to power on and off, with no granular control over fan speed from the Home interface. Even so, the ability to surface the fan within a unified smart home dashboard marks a practical step toward broader interoperability.

How the New Model Modernises SwitchBot’s Fan Lineup

Compared with the original circulator, the new SwitchBot standing fan is clearly aimed at modern smart homes that value both flexibility and interoperability. The addition of Matter support, even via a hub, means owners can more easily combine the fan with sensors, thermostats, and other automations. The integrated battery and USB-C power input reduce reliance on fixed outlets, helping the fan follow daily routines—from office desk to living room to bedroom. Features like SilenTech noise reduction, expanded oscillation ranges, and the night light refine its role as a multipurpose home companion rather than a simple appliance. While the limited Apple Home controls highlight that Matter support is still evolving, this release signals SwitchBot’s intent to make their accessories more open and ecosystem-friendly, especially for users building a cohesive, cross-platform smart home fan setup.
