One UI 8.5 is Samsung’s software update that adds new Galaxy AI features, camera options, and smarter notifications across recent Galaxy phones, but it also introduces noticeable feature gaps between the latest Galaxy S26 series and older or cheaper models, leaving many users uncertain about which promised tools they will actually receive. Launched first on the Galaxy S25 lineup, the update was marketed as bringing “Galaxy AI” to more devices, yet several headline One UI 8.5 features remain S26-only. Early adopters on Galaxy S25, S24, and earlier flagships discovered that capabilities such as Priority Notifications and Files Summaries were missing at release, despite being central to Samsung’s marketing. While follow-up patches have started to close part of this gap, One UI missing features and inconsistent Galaxy AI compatibility are now a core part of the One UI 8.5 story.

June Patch: Priority Notifications and File Summaries Expand

Samsung’s June 2026 patch is the first major correction to One UI 8.5’s uneven launch. A roughly 900MB update added three previously missing Galaxy AI features to the Galaxy S25 series and the latest foldables: Prioritize Notifications, Summarize Notifications, and File Summaries. These work fully on-device and depend on your notification or file language matching the system language, supporting major tongues including English, French, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Hindi, Thai, Polish, Italian, and Vietnamese. According to TechCabal, this patch began rolling out in South Korea on June 11 with other regions expected soon after. Android Authority reports that the Galaxy Z Fold 7 now “is getting the S26’s Priority Notifications and Files Summaries features with the June One UI 8.5 update.” Even with these additions, older S- and Z-series phones still lack a complete set of S26-era One UI 8.5 features.

S26-Exclusive Galaxy AI and Camera Tools Still Missing

Despite the June patch, several Galaxy S26 capabilities remain locked to the newest flagships. The most visible omission is Now Nudge, a context-aware AI assistant in Samsung Keyboard that reads on-screen content and suggests actions like adding calendar events or saving contacts. It appears only on Galaxy S26 models, not on S25, Z Fold 7, Z Flip 7, or earlier devices, even though it does not seem tied to special hardware. A 24MP AI Fusion camera mode in Camera Assistant is also S26 Ultra-only; S25 Ultra owners see no equivalent option between 12MP and 200MP. Video softening controls, some autofocus tuning options, and certain 8K output choices are similarly restricted. TechCabal notes that Horizon Lock stabilization remains absent from all older Ultra phones, along with extras such as Samsung Browser’s “Ask AI” and a high-magnification photo remaster tool.

Foldables Catch Up Slowly: Fold 7 and Feature Oddities

Foldable owners experience their own mix of progress and inconsistency. With the June One UI 8.5 update, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 finally gains Galaxy AI features that debuted on the S26 line, specifically Priority Notifications and Files Summaries. Android Authority highlights that this patch combines the June security update with those AI upgrades, aligning Fold 7 more closely with the S25 family. Yet other tools show unpredictable distribution. The fingerprint accuracy booster, which lets you rescan a stored fingerprint multiple times for better recognition, has already appeared on the Galaxy S25 FE and Z Fold 7 but remains absent from the standard S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra. TechCabal points out that this booster is entirely software-based, making its staggered arrival harder to follow. Meanwhile, rumored internal One UI 9 builds suggest that Now Nudge may debut on Fold 7 later, underscoring how foldables lag behind S26 in stages.

44+ Devices on One UI 8.5, But Fragmentation Persists

On paper, the Samsung device rollout for One UI 8.5 looks impressive. Gizmochina reports that Samsung has delivered the stable update to all 44 devices it originally confirmed, spanning Galaxy S25 and S24 families, S23 series, multiple Z Fold and Z Flip generations, and several Galaxy Tab S models. Beyond that list, the company has also pushed One UI 8.5 to extra mid-range and budget lines including the Galaxy A06, M55, M16, F56, F54, and XCover 7 Pro. However, feature parity across this wide portfolio is inconsistent. Many of these phones receive One UI 8.5 in name but lack key Galaxy AI features, S26-specific camera options, or newer system tools. For users, this fragmentation fuels confusion: two Galaxy phones on the same software version can offer different One UI 8.5 features, and Samsung has yet to publish a clear, device-level Galaxy AI compatibility matrix.
