At the core of Alibaba Qwen robots is a three-layer design that mirrors how humans operate: observe, predict, decide, and act. Qwen-RobotNav is a vision-language navigation model that helps machines read their surroundings and move through complex spaces. Qwen-RobotWorld functions as a video world model, allowing robots to predict how a scene will change before they take action. Qwen-RobotManip, built on the Qwen3.5-4B architecture, is a generalist vision-language-action model that runs physical execution and object manipulation. This structure turns robotics AI models into a coordinated control system rather than a single all-purpose network. DAMO Academy’s RynnBrain adds perception by mapping objects and motion; in one demo, a robot identifies a piece of fruit and drops it into a basket, hinting at future roles in kitchens, logistics hubs, and assembly lines.
Qwen3.7-Max and the Rise of Long-Running AI Agents
Alibaba launched the Qwen Robot Suite alongside Qwen3.7-Max, a new model tuned for agent work that runs for extended periods. The company says Qwen3.7-Max can operate autonomously for up to 35 hours without performance slipping, a claim aimed squarely at long-running workflows such as monitoring, scheduling, or coordinating fleets of embodied AI systems. By pairing physical AI agents with an “agent-focused” model, Alibaba is pushing a vision of end-to-end automation: models that plan and manage tasks, plus robots that execute them in the real world. Alibaba also describes itself as a full-stack “AI factory” spanning chips, an agentic cloud, models, serving platforms, and applications. The idea is that owning every layer lets gains in one part accelerate the others, and that robotics becomes the most tangible expression of this integrated stack.
Strategic Stakes as Robotics Becomes the Next AI Frontier
The Qwen Robot Suite positions Alibaba as a serious contender in embodied AI systems at a time when investors see robotics as the next major AI frontier after generative chat models. While today’s AI tools mostly operate in digital environments, physical AI agents promise automation in factories, warehouses, hospitals, homes, and transportation networks. Industry analysts describe robotics as a commercial market that could reach trillions of dollars over coming decades, and Alibaba’s move responds to that projected scale. The company’s push into robotics AI models is also shaped by tightening access to advanced Western systems and by rising focus on domestic alternatives that can serve both digital and physical applications.
