How to Use Samsung’s Device Care Spam Filter to Block Notification Ads on Your Galaxy Phone

How to Use Samsung’s Device Care Spam Filter to Block Notification Ads on Your Galaxy Phone

What Samsung’s New Notification Blocking Actually Does

Samsung’s latest Device Care update introduces a powerful way to tackle notification spam without you having to micro-manage every app. Instead of being a traditional browser ad blocker, it focuses on apps that abuse notifications with frequent advertisement alerts, promo banners, and install-me-now messages. When Device Care detects that an app is sending too many marketing notifications, it can automatically put that app into Deep Sleep. In this state, the app loses permission to run in the background or send new alerts, so your notification shade stays much cleaner. This Device Care spam filter works within One UI on compatible Galaxy devices, currently highlighted on the Galaxy S26 series, and is designed to reduce notification fatigue caused by aggressive Galaxy phone ads and push marketing. You still keep full control: blocked apps are not uninstalled, and you can reopen or unblock them anytime.

How to Turn On Samsung Notification Blocking in Device Care

To start using Samsung notification blocking, first make sure you have the latest Device Care version (13.8.80.7 or newer). Open the Galaxy Store, tap the menu icon, choose Updates, and install any Device Care update that appears. Once updated, go to Settings, tap Device care, and look for the new notification spam removal option, often labeled Block apps with excessive ads or similar. Enable it to let Device Care automatically manage ad-heavy apps. From here, you no longer need to hunt through individual app settings to silence annoying Galaxy phone ads; Device Care will watch for excessive marketing alerts on its own. If you don’t see the feature yet, the rollout may still be in progress for your device and One UI version. Check again in a few days, as Samsung is releasing the feature in stages through the Galaxy Store.

Choosing Between Basic and Intelligent Blocking Modes

Samsung gives you two ways to run the Device Care spam filter. Basic blocking relies on Samsung’s internal list of apps known for aggressive advertising behavior. When turned on, Device Care will automatically deep sleep any listed apps on your phone if they start spamming notifications. Intelligent blocking is more dynamic: your phone inspects notifications in real time and decides whether an app is sending frequent advertisement alerts. If it judges the behavior excessive, the app is moved into Deep Sleep until you manually open it again. Intelligent blocking can be more effective at notification spam removal, but Samsung warns that it might occasionally flag a legitimate alert. If you’re cautious, start with Basic. If your notification shade is overloaded with ads and promos, switch to Intelligent for stronger protection, knowing you can always review and reverse its decisions later.

Reviewing and Unblocking Apps Caught by the Spam Filter

Even with Samsung notification blocking enabled, you stay in charge of which apps can reach you. To see what Device Care has restricted, head to Settings, tap Device care, open Care report, and choose Excessive alerts. This screen lists apps that have been flagged for frequent advertisement alerts and placed into Deep Sleep. If you notice an important app here—say a shopping app you genuinely rely on for order updates—you can tap it and restore notification permissions or remove it from the blocked list. Remember that an app in Deep Sleep is not deleted; it’s simply paused from running in the background or sending alerts until you open it. By occasionally checking the Excessive alerts report, you can fine-tune the Device Care spam filter so it cuts Galaxy phone ads and promo spam while still allowing the notifications you truly care about.
