What the FlexStrike Wireless Fight Stick Is and Why It Matters

The FlexStrike wireless fight stick is Sony’s first official PlayStation-branded arcade controller with wireless connectivity, built to give fighting game players tournament-ready performance on PS5 and, later, PC through low-latency PlayStation Link technology and a feature-complete button layout that mirrors the DualSense controller. Launching on August 6 at USD 199.99 (approx. RM940), it marks Sony’s move into a space long filled by third-party hardware. FlexStrike is designed for serious competition but also for ease of use at home, with a built-in rechargeable battery and included sling carry case for events and meetups. According to Technobezz, pre-orders open on June 12 at 10 AM ET, with initial support limited to PS5 before PC compatibility rolls out after launch. For the fighting game community, this is the first major first-party PS5 arcade stick built around Sony’s own ecosystem.

Design, Layout, and Build: A First-Party PS5 Arcade Stick at Last

Sony’s FlexStrike fight stick is styled to sit naturally next to a PS5 console, sharing its sharp, futuristic look and matching finish. The lever uses a custom digital stick with a screw-on ball top that feels light and springy, snapping back to center with noticeable force. On the faceplate, every DualSense input is present: eight main action buttons plus R2 and L2 placed where the pinky can reach, a touchpad, menu controls, and even R3/L3. CGMagazine notes that each button is clearly labeled with its function, helping new arcade stick players and those who benefit from better visual guidance. Mechanical buttons and an angled, ergonomic body with a non-slip base aim to keep the controller stable both on a lap and on a table. For many PS5 players, this will be the first first-party arcade stick that feels like a natural extension of the console itself.

PlayStation Link and Wireless Performance for Competitive Play

The defining feature of Sony’s new wireless fight stick is its use of PlayStation Link, a proprietary low-latency wireless standard that promises more dependable performance than Bluetooth for competitive matches. The FlexStrike ships with a PlayStation Link USB adapter, now updated to USB-C, so players can plug in and connect without repeated pairing. CGMagazine’s hands-on impressions describe Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls gameplay as “near-instant responsiveness,” with inputs feeling close to classic arcade cabinets. Sony’s PlayStation Link implementation also allows simultaneous audio: the same adapter can connect a FlexStrike stick and either a Pulse Elite headset or Pulse Explore earbuds, enabling lag-sensitive gameplay and voice chat from one port. Two FlexStrike fight sticks can sync to a single adapter for local versus or co-op, which is important for tournaments and in-person sessions that need multiple setups with minimal cable clutter.

Customization, Tournament Features, and PC Support Caveat

Beyond its wireless credentials, the FlexStrike fight stick includes several features aimed at tournament regulars. Players can configure the lever using easy-to-swap restrictor gates—square, circle, and octagon—with built-in compartments inside the case to store the unused gates and the PlayStation Link adapter. The stick also offers a lever switch and a lock button so you can disable sensitive inputs like the touchpad during events, reducing the risk of accidental pauses. Sony has confirmed that a DualSense can stay connected for menu navigation while the FlexStrike handles combat, and tapping the PS button on the stick will wake the PS5 once it is paired. One important limitation at launch: according to Technobezz, PC functionality will arrive after August 6, so early buyers who want a PS5 arcade stick can use it immediately, while dedicated PC players will need to wait for a post-launch update.

Part of a Wider Hardware Push with Marvel Tōkon and New Monitor

FlexStrike is not arriving alone. Its August 6 release is timed with Sony’s own Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, signaling a coordinated push into the fighting game space with both software and hardware. The fight stick launches at USD 199.99 (approx. RM940), with pre-orders opening on June 12 and targeting players who travel to tournaments, locals, or friends’ setups using the included sling case. Later in August, Sony will expand its desktop lineup with a 27-inch QHD IPS gaming monitor priced at USD 349.99 (approx. RM1,640), supporting up to 120Hz on PS5 and PS5 Pro and up to 240Hz on PCs and Macs. Its standout feature is a pop-out DualSense charging hook that lets players hang and charge a controller behind the display. Pulse Elevate wireless speakers are also planned for desktop audio, though Sony has not yet set a release date or price.
