What Are Spotify AI Personal Podcasts?

Spotify’s Personal Podcast feature is a personal podcast generator that turns your text prompts into AI-generated audio content. Instead of recording yourself, you describe the show you want, and Spotify creates a private podcast episode just for you. The system draws on broad world knowledge plus your listening history to tailor the content to your tastes, whether you want a news-style briefing, a deep dive on a niche topic, or a weekly recap of what matters to you. These AI podcasts are generated on demand and saved only to your library, so they are not public shows in the usual podcast directories. Personal Podcasts are rolling out to Spotify Premium subscribers, and each account receives a limited number of generation credits per month, with the option to buy more if you need additional custom episodes.

How to Create Your First Personal Podcast

To start using Spotify AI podcasts, open the Spotify app and go to the Create tab, where you’ll find the Personal Podcast option once it’s available on your account. Tap it and you’ll see a text box: this is where you describe the podcast you want. Be as specific as possible—mention the topic, tone, length, and how detailed you’d like it to be. After submitting your prompt, Spotify processes it and generates a private episode using your selected AI voice. You can refine the result by editing the prompt and regenerating, or switching to a different voice if the style doesn’t feel right. When you’re satisfied, the finished episode is automatically stored in Your Library, alongside your playlists and followed podcasts, so you can stream it like any other show.

Adding Context, Scheduling, and Making It Truly Personal

Personal Podcasts are designed to be more than one-off experiments. You can attach extra context—such as text notes, PDFs, or relevant links—to help Spotify craft richer AI-generated audio content. This is especially useful for summarizing research, turning work materials into briefings, or creating study guides. You can also choose whether a prompt should generate a single episode or recur on a schedule, such as a daily news-style briefing or a weekly roundup of articles you’ve collected. During setup, specify the cadence you prefer and let Spotify handle the rest, drawing on your listening habits to keep the content aligned with your interests. Every generated episode remains private within Your Library, giving you a personal, automated show that evolves with your habits but never appears as a public podcast in search results or charts.

Using the AI Q&A Tool With Regular Podcasts

Beyond the personal podcast generator, Spotify is also rolling out an AI Q&A feature inside the app for regular podcasts. When you open Spotify, you’ll see a chatbot-style prompt box that lets you launch shows or ask questions about what you’re listening to. Start a podcast, then type questions like “Explain the main argument from this segment” or “What did the host say about this technology?” The AI analyzes the current episode and responds in natural language, helping you clarify complex topics, catch missed details, or quickly revisit key points without scrubbing through the audio. This Q&A tool works alongside your AI-generated podcasts, turning Spotify Premium features into a broader learning and productivity hub—where you can both generate new, personalized episodes and interrogate existing ones for deeper understanding.
