What the new Liquid Glass design resources include
Liquid Glass design resources are Apple’s official UI kits, icon templates, and documentation that define how apps should look and behave so they match the latest iOS, iPadOS, and macOS system interfaces. Apple has released updated iOS 27 design resources, alongside kits for iPadOS 27 and macOS 27 Golden Gate, through its Apple Design Resources portal. These Apple design kits focus on the company’s evolving Liquid Glass design language, introduced last year to unify visual styles across platforms. The new download bundles UI elements such as buttons, headers, lists, input fields, alerts, and every system app icon in coordinated light and dark modes. According to iClarified, developers get “the UI elements and app icon templates they need to adopt the latest Liquid Glass refinements,” giving teams a single, reliable reference for layout, iconography, and visual behavior across all three platforms.

Liquid Glass UI kits for iOS, iPadOS, and macOS
The core of the release is a set of Liquid Glass UI kits that span iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27 Golden Gate. For now, Apple is shipping these resources as Sketch libraries, with Figma versions expected later, mirroring the pattern from the previous iOS 26 UI kit rollout. Each kit covers system-standard components: buttons, navigation headers, lists, dialog boxes, text fields, alerts, and state-specific variants in both light and dark appearance. The assets also include every built‑in app icon across the three platforms, rendered in the updated Liquid Glass style to help developers see how their icons should sit alongside Apple’s own. AppleInsider notes that “developers can see and use countless buttons, arrows, dialog boxes, and more, so that their apps fit iOS 27 and more,” making these kits a practical starting point for any interface refresh.

New UI icon templates and multi-layer Liquid Glass effects
Beyond general UI layout, the release sharpens how developers handle app icons within the Liquid Glass design system. Apple has updated the iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 app icon templates for Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Sketch, keeping the overall icon shape but revising shadow and highlight layers to give a sharper, more dimensional appearance. The design resources document all Liquid Glass revisions, including the multi-layer glass effects first shown with icons like Apple Maps. Apple’s resource library presents each Apple app icon in Default, Dark, and Light Clear versions, along with guidance on the refreshed red notification badges. Together, these UI icon templates help developers refine lighting, depth, and transparency so their icons visually align with system defaults while still supporting brand identity and clear recognizability on crowded home screens.
Practical implementation guidance and remaining gaps
Apple’s updated library goes beyond static art files to provide implementation guidance that shows how Liquid Glass design decisions translate into real apps. Developers can reference detailed design fixes for spacing, typography, and icon layering, as well as examples of notification badge placement and contrast-safe color usage. The same portal continues to host older OS UI kits, Apple Pay badges, SF Symbols 7, and hardware templates for devices from Apple Watch to iPhone, which can help with marketing visuals and mockups. However, there are still gaps: resources for visionOS 27, watchOS 27, and tvOS 27 are not yet available, and the latest Liquid Glass libraries are currently Sketch-only. Teams eager to standardize across all platforms may need to plan a phased adoption, starting with iOS 27 design resources and extending as more platform kits arrive.
