Running a sandbox game on a PS2 means respecting strict limits. The console offers only 32MB of RAM, and OptiJogos notes that working within this ceiling was the hardest part of the project. To avoid memory exhaustion, OptiCraft uses a finite world based on Minecraft Pocket Edition 0.6, because infinite terrain would overwhelm the hardware. The developer reduces the amount of data held at once by rendering only what is in front of the player, lowering the overall resolution, and turning off animations and background features that are not essential to core gameplay.
