Apple pitches this as a privacy‑first approach that still allows rich, personal context. Because much of the processing happens on the device, Siri can understand details in messages, contacts, and apps without sending everything to the cloud. The assistant can, for example, fetch an address from a message thread even if it was never saved as a contact.
