What Is Meta Plus and Why It Matters
Meta Plus subscriptions are paid social media subscriptions across Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp that give users extra tools for personalization, audience control, and richer interactions beyond the free apps. Meta has launched these Plus tiers globally as separate add-ons for each platform, sitting alongside but distinct from Meta Verified. Instagram Plus and Facebook Plus are priced at USD 3.99 (approx. RM18) per month, while WhatsApp Plus costs USD 2.99 (approx. RM14). According to Meta head of product Naomi Gleit, the new tiers are designed as “ways to express and connect” with more features promised over time. By keeping Plus plans app-specific instead of offering a single bundle, Meta can see which perks people pay for on each service while laying the groundwork for a broader Meta One subscription ecosystem.

Instagram Plus Features: More Control Over Stories and Profiles
Instagram Plus features center on Story control, audience lists, and profile customization. Subscribers can spotlight a Story once a week, preview Stories without appearing in the viewer list, and create unlimited audience lists beyond the standard Close Friends option. They can also post directly to their profile without pushing content into followers’ feeds, which helps keep the grid updated without spamming Story or feed viewers. Instagram Plus adds Story rewatch insights so users can see how often Stories are replayed, plus extra profile pins and customizable fonts for a more distinctive profile. Animated Super Heart reactions give another way to respond to content in a more expressive way than standard reactions. These Meta Plus subscription perks make Instagram’s Plus tier especially appealing to power users who care about fine-tuned sharing and detailed feedback on their Stories.

Facebook Plus Features: Enhanced Stories and Social Expression
Facebook Plus mirrors many Instagram Plus features but tailored to Facebook’s profile and Story habits. Subscribers gain Story-focused tools such as rewatch insights and the ability to preview Stories without showing up as a viewer, offering more private ways to monitor content. Facebook Plus also lets users extend Story availability beyond the usual 24-hour window, giving important posts a longer life without turning them into permanent feed posts. Animated Super Reactions add more expressive feedback options compared with standard reactions, and extra profile personalization tools help users refine how their Facebook presence looks and feels. Together, these Instagram Plus–like features support users who post frequently and want more nuanced control over how content appears and how audiences respond, while still keeping Facebook Plus separate from Meta Verified and any future Meta One bundles.
WhatsApp Plus Tier: Themes, Stickers, and Chat Management
The WhatsApp Plus tier shifts the Meta Plus subscription concept into messaging by focusing on personalization and chat management. Instead of creator-style tools, WhatsApp Plus offers app themes, custom ringtones, premium stickers, and expanded pinned chats, making it easier for heavy chat users to keep important conversations at the top of their list. List customization features help users group or organize chats more effectively, building on recent additions like member tags and text stickers mentioned by Meta. Priced at USD 2.99 (approx. RM14) per month, WhatsApp Plus is positioned as a separate messaging upgrade, not a bundle with Facebook or Instagram. Meta treats these habits as a distinct premium lane where users pay for a more colorful, organized, and personalized messaging experience rather than public-facing profile or audience tools.
Meta One, AI Plans, and the Shift Beyond Advertising
Alongside the Meta Plus subscription lineup, Meta is testing broader Meta One tiers aimed at creators, businesses, and AI users. Consumer Plus plans currently stand alone, but Meta describes Meta One as a future hub that could eventually combine subscriptions across its apps while still allowing separate tracks for different user types. Professional plans such as Meta One Essential and Meta One Advanced add tools like verified badges, impersonation protection, boosted placement in feeds and search, enhanced linksheets, links in posts and Reels, audience insights, and scheduling upgrades. Meta is also trialing AI-focused Meta One Plus at USD 7.99 (approx. RM37) and Meta One Premium at USD 19.99 (approx. RM92), which increase compute capacity, expand image and video generation, and add deeper reasoning features. This layered strategy shows Meta diversifying revenue beyond advertising through paid social media subscriptions tailored to consumers, creators, businesses, and AI power users.
