A New Generation of Compact Professional Audio Drivers

Professional audio drivers are the loudspeaker components that turn electrical signals into sound, and new compact driver technologies are redefining how much low-frequency power and full‑range clarity engineers can pack into smaller, lighter live sound systems and installed rigs without sacrificing output, coverage or reliability. At InfoComm 2026, Powersoft is pushing this shift with MM-Force and Spixel, two OEM driver platforms built around high-efficiency motors and tight ecosystem integration. MM-Force is a low-profile moving magnetic low-frequency driver that targets space-constrained installations, while Spixel is an ultra-compact high-efficiency full-range driver aimed at shrinking system footprints. Both are designed to work alongside Powersoft amplification and software, giving OEM partners an end-to-end toolset for compact speaker technology. Their debut underlines a wider trend across the show floor: professional audio is prioritizing smaller form factors, integrated electronics and smarter system intelligence.

MM-Force: Low-Frequency Power in a Shallow Format

MM-Force is Powersoft’s answer to a long-standing challenge in live sound systems and fixed installs: how to fit serious low-frequency output into shallow spaces such as under stages, in walls or inside slim touring enclosures. The moving magnetic design keeps the physical depth under 80 mm while still combining high motor strength with a dual coil configuration and a square carbon fiber reinforced polymer piston. Powersoft says the moving parts are designed to offset one another dynamically for vibrationless operation at the transducer level, which should help reduce mechanical noise and cabinet-induced artefacts. Available in 8-inch and 10-inch formats and rated for harsh environments, MM-Force gives integrators a compact, high-efficiency driver platform for subs and low-frequency modules where every millimeter of depth matters. That makes it a strong fit for modern touring rigs focused on truck space and for installations that must hide powerful bass behind architectural constraints.

Spixel: Ultra-Compact Full-Range Intelligence

Spixel extends Powersoft’s high motor strength philosophy into a full-range driver built for ultra-compact boxes. In a 2.5-inch format, Spixel reaches a low-frequency limit of 100 Hz, enabling direct coupling with subwoofers at a single low crossover point. That simplifies system design and helps maintain phase coherence between subs and tops in compact speaker technology. The driver also integrates Powersoft’s AnyMATE technology for onboard speaker identification, real-time monitoring and visual diagnostics via an LED indicator and translucent dustcap. This turns each transducer into a network-aware component that can be checked in the field without opening cabinets. According to Powersoft, MM-Force and Spixel “give OEM partners the pieces to complete a high-performance system” as part of a wider ecosystem that spans drivers, amplification and software, pointing toward loudspeakers that are smaller, smarter and easier to manage throughout their working life.

InfoComm 2026 Signals a Shift Toward Smaller Live Sound Systems

The launch of MM-Force and Spixel at InfoComm 2026 aligns with a broader move toward compact, integrated live sound systems across the show. Eastern Acoustic Works’ Newport Series, for example, combines lightweight cabinets with built-in high-efficiency Class-D amplification to eliminate external amp racks and reduce truck space and warehouse footprint. Newport’s NT208L line array delivers 141 dB Max SPL and low-frequency extension to 50 Hz from a dual 8-inch active module, while the NT116S subwoofer can be flown with arrays or used as a standalone low-frequency solution. EAW also adds tools such as the Online Array Assistant for fast rigging decisions. Together with Powersoft’s professional audio drivers, these releases highlight how manufacturers are trying to pack more output, control and flexibility into smaller and lighter hardware, cutting load-in times and simplifying logistics for touring and event companies.

Smaller Form Factors, Bigger Design Freedom for Integrators

For OEMs and system integrators, Powersoft’s MM-Force and Spixel open new options for flexible, portable live sound systems and space-efficient installations. Shallow low-frequency modules built around MM-Force can slide into stages, risers or architectural cavities without sacrificing performance, while arrays and point-source boxes using Spixel can stay compact yet cover the full range above a single subwoofer crossover. Powersoft frames these drivers as part of a complete audio technology ecosystem that extends well beyond the amplifier rack, adding device-level intelligence through AnyMATE and tight coupling with its amplification and control platforms. On the application side, this means touring rigs that fit into smaller trucks, installed systems that disappear into architecture and rental inventories that stay adaptable. As InfoComm 2026 highlights, high-efficiency drivers and compact speaker technology are set to redefine what “full-scale” professional audio looks and feels like in the field.
