Safari’s upcoming AI tab organization feature is Apple’s answer to one of the web’s most common headaches: tab overload. Since introducing Tab Groups in Safari 15, Apple has let users manually separate browsing sessions for work, travel, or personal projects. Helpful as that is, it still assumes you’ll remember to create groups and drag tabs into them. Now, Apple is testing a smarter approach across Safari on iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27 that removes much of that manual work. The new feature uses artificial intelligence to automatically analyze what you’re browsing and cluster related pages together. Tapping the center-top button that normally lets you switch between tab collections now reveals an “Organize Tabs” option. When this is turned on, Safari explains that “tabs will group into topics you browse.” Behind the scenes, Safari uses machine learning to scan page content and detect context—such as whether you’re researching flights, reading tech news, or working on a report. It then automatically sorts tabs into topic-based collections, updating them in real time as you open or close pages. If you prefer to keep full control, you can leave the feature disabled and continue managing Tab Groups manually. Apple hasn’t labeled this as part of Apple Intelligence yet, but it clearly relies on AI to power its automatic tab grouping.
