Any Style Engine and Deeper Creative Control

This expands the app from a handful of fixed looks to a flexible AI image generation system that responds to natural language prompts and can output hyper realistic photos, product mockups, or presentation layouts. Daily usage for photorealistic generation is capped at 100 requests, with higher limits for users on any iCloud+ subscription tier. While Image Playground takes care of new creations, Apple is also upgrading how users edit existing shots through the Spatial Reframing feature in the Photos app. Powered by context-aware machine learning, Spatial Reframing can extend the outer edges of an image or subtly reshape the composition after capture, turning tight or poorly framed shots into more flexible canvases. That means you can generate a wider, panoramic feel on a landscape, or recover usable framing from an image that would once have been cropped too aggressively. SynthID Watermarks, Privacy, and a Phased Rollout
Apple is pairing its more powerful models with stronger guardrails. Everything produced through Image Playground will carry a SynthID watermark, the same hidden marker format already used in generations from Google Gemini and ChatGPT. That allows platforms and tools to verify that an asset is AI-created and helps track authenticity as photorealistic AI images spread across social feeds, documents, and invitations. Lifehacker also notes that because of Private Cloud Compute, “no user images will be stored or accessed by Apple, or used to train any of its models,” a privacy promise that may appeal to cautious creators.
