Galaxy Tab S11 and S11 Ultra Open the One UI 8.5 Tablet Wave
Samsung’s One UI 8.5 update, based on Android 16, is now reaching tablets, and the Galaxy Tab S11 and Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra are first in line. Both models have started receiving the stable One UI 8.5 update with firmware versions X736NKOU5BZE3 for the Tab S11 and X936NKOU5BZE3 for the Tab S11 Ultra. The rollout began in Samsung’s home market and is expected to expand to more regions soon, mirroring the pattern seen with the Galaxy S23 series phones, which moved from a limited release to a wider distribution across multiple markets. Users who haven’t yet received an update notification can manually check by going to Settings, opening the Software update menu, and selecting Download and install. As this is a major platform update, the download size is large and may take several minutes to install, after which the tablet will reboot into the new software.

Tab S10 FE, FE+, and Tab S10 Lite Join the Stable Rollout
Following the Tab S11 line, Samsung is broadening the One UI 8.5 update to more affordable Galaxy tablets. The Galaxy Tab S10 FE and Tab S10 FE+ are now receiving the stable One UI 8.5 update, with the initial rollout underway in the same core market before expanding elsewhere in the coming days. This aligns with Samsung’s strategy on phones, where stable One UI 8.5 for the Galaxy S23 FE and Galaxy S23 series moved from early adopters to a wider audience country by country. The Galaxy Tab S10 Lite is also joining the party with its own stable release of One UI 8.5, giving the broader Tab S10 family a consistent software baseline. Together, these updates ensure that mid-range tablets benefit from the same refreshed interface and platform improvements that debuted on Samsung’s latest flagships, while keeping the ecosystem aligned for developers and users.

Camera Assistant App Expands to More Galaxy Tablets with One UI 8.5
One of the most notable Samsung tablet features arriving alongside the One UI 8.5 update is expanded support for the Camera Assistant app. Samsung is enabling Camera Assistant on 19 additional Galaxy devices running One UI 8.5, including several premium Galaxy Tab S models such as the Tab S8 series, Tab S9 series, Tab S9 FE and FE+, and the Tab S10, Tab S10+, Tab S10 Ultra, Tab S10 FE, and Tab S10 FE+. Camera Assistant adds fine-grained control over the stock Camera app, letting users tweak automatic lens switching, picture softening, extra zoom shortcuts, and whether to prioritize focus accuracy or shot speed. It also exposes options to adjust autofocus speed and sensitivity for both photos and videos, control timer shot counts, toggle Auto HDR and video softening, and enable HDR10+ video recording. With One UI 8.5, Samsung is clearly treating tablets as serious imaging tools, not just big-screen content consumption devices.
Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro Gains Rugged-Friendly Enhancements
Samsung’s One UI 8.5 rollout is not limited to consumer-focused tablets; the rugged Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro is also receiving the update. The new firmware, version X356NKOU7CZE4 with a download size of over 3GB, delivers Samsung’s refreshed design language and a suite of new and enhanced features tailored to the tablet’s durable profile. As with other devices, users can check for the update through Settings, then Software update, and select Download and install. Samsung recommends starting the installation with at least 30% battery remaining, as the process involves a full reboot cycle. Initially released in a single market, the company plans to extend availability to additional countries and regions in the coming days. This ensures that enterprise and field users relying on the Tab Active 5 Pro benefit from the same core platform improvements and security updates as Samsung’s mainstream Galaxy Tab S devices.
Phased Regional Rollout Mirrors Galaxy S23 Strategy
Samsung is clearly applying a consistent, phased approach to the One UI 8.5 update across both phones and tablets. On the phone side, the Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra first received stable One UI 8.5 in Samsung’s primary market, followed by expansions to India, Europe, and later carrier-locked units in the US. The Galaxy S23 FE followed a similar pattern, starting with beta users before reaching more devices. The tablet strategy echoes this: the Galaxy Tab S11 and S11 Ultra, the Tab S10 FE duo, and the Tab Active 5 Pro all began their One UI 8.5 journeys in a limited launch region with commitments to reach more markets shortly after. For users, this staggered rollout means occasional waiting, but it also ensures that early feedback helps Samsung fine-tune stability before wider distribution, while keeping Camera Assistant and other One UI 8.5 features aligned across the Galaxy ecosystem.
