Beth Dakin, a senior manager on Apple’s Safari engineering team, said during the WWDC keynote that the system would “agentically take action on your behalf.” In practice, that means Apple Intelligence uses Safari to sign in to eligible sites, generate unique strong passwords, and save them directly into your Apple Passwords vault. A progress indicator in the Security tab shows the current status per account and lets you cancel midway, giving you a mix of automation and ongoing control.

Turning password maintenance into a one-tap background task is a major convenience win, but it deepens dependence on Apple’s ecosystem. According to Business Insider, Apple said its Passwords app will soon be able to “update eligible weak or compromised passwords” with a tap, signaling a shift from advisory alerts to action-oriented AI services. As more everyday tasks become automated, Apple Intelligence is positioning itself as an invisible agent that continuously hardens your security posture while you focus on other work. The long-term question is how far users are willing to go in trading manual control for deeper integration and automated protection.
