Samsung is also shifting to a Side-by-Side package layout, placing the DRAM and chipset next to each other and linking them with a silicon interposer under a Heat Path Block to improve heat transfer. In theory, this should help cooling by avoiding the need for heat to pass through the memory before reaching the cooling solution. Yet early benchmarks of test samples were underwhelming, with one unit’s top core running at only 2.88GHz, far below the Exynos 2600’s 3.8GHz prime core and the reported 4.2GHz max for the Exynos 2700’s ARM C2 Ultra core.
Why the S27 Pro is no ‘mini Ultra’ in practice
The idea behind the Galaxy S27 Pro was appealing: Ultra-level specifications without the S Pen, at least in theory. The phone shares its main, ultra-wide, and selfie cameras with the S27 Ultra, but uses a different telephoto module, already weakening the claim of being a straight Ultra alternative. More importantly, the chipset split means that only a subset of buyers will get performance that lines up cleanly with the Ultra’s Snapdragon Elite engine.
