Recent AI developer tools funding shows investors looking beyond foundation models to the workflows that turn AI output into production software. Zerops has secured a USD 2 million (approx. RM9.2 million) seed round led by Gi21 Capital to rethink cloud infrastructure for the age of AI coding agents. Dessn, meanwhile, raised USD 6 million (approx. RM27.6 million) led by Connect Ventures to let designers edit live codebases without the traditional local setup headaches. Both cloud infrastructure startups sit in a fast-forming category: platforms that bridge human talent and AI systems inside real development environments. Rather than adding yet another copilot-style assistant, these companies are tackling the operational friction that slows AI-assisted development. The investment signals a growing belief that the biggest opportunity lies in making AI-generated changes deployable, observable, and safe in production, not merely easier to generate in isolation.
Zerops Unifies Dev and Production for AI Coding Agents
Zerops is rebuilding cloud architecture around a simple premise: development and production should be the same place. Its Platform-as-a-Service removes traditional environment tiers, running applications inside a single project where code behaves identically from first commit to full scale. For AI coding agents such as Claude, Codex, or Gemini, this matters enormously: the same infrastructure that runs experiments also runs production, so generated code is tested under real conditions from the start. Zerops runs on its own bare-metal infrastructure in multiple data centres, using full Linux containers instead of restricted app containers, giving developers deep visibility into processes. More than 15 built-in services, from databases to messaging systems, reduce external integration overhead. By collapsing environment drift and configuration sprawl, Zerops aims to make one-click deployment realistic for both humans and AI agents, and to cut an entire category of deployment failures from modern software pipelines.
Dessn Lets Designers Iterate Directly in Live Codebases
Dessn targets a different bottleneck in AI-first development: the gap between design tools and production code. Founded by Gabriella Hachem and Nim Cheema, the platform runs existing codebases in the cloud, abstracts away dependencies, and lets product designers iterate without any local setup or developer intervention. As AI makes code cheaper to produce, Dessn’s thesis is that design quality and fidelity inside real environments become the true differentiators. Unlike greenfield AI ideation tools such as Lovable or Vercel’s v0, Dessn focuses on teams with live products who need rapid iteration on what already exists. Customers including Color, Wispr, and Mercury use it to reduce designer-to-developer handoff friction and ensure that design changes match production reality. Betaworks partner Jordan Crook has described Dessn as the product Figma might build today, with its tight coupling to running codebases as the key advantage.

Investors Are Backing Platforms That Bridge Humans and AI in the Cloud
Taken together, Zerops and Dessn highlight where developer platform investment is heading: tools that reduce environment setup overhead and bring AI agents into the same workspace as humans. Zerops does this by giving AI coding agents direct, controlled access to production-grade infrastructure via its Control Panel, so they can build, deploy, and debug in real cloud conditions. Dessn does it by pulling designers into the live code loop, eliminating the lag and translation errors of traditional handoffs. Both approaches recognize that the next wave of productivity gains will come from coordinating teams of humans plus AI, not replacing one with the other. Investors appear to be betting that cloud infrastructure startups which own more of the stack—and make deployment predictable—will capture outsized value as millions of developers, and their AI collaborators, demand faster, safer ways to ship software.
