RTX Spark: One-Petaflop Superchip for Local AI Processing

At Computex, Nvidia introduced the RTX Spark processor, a one-petaflop "superchip" aimed at turning everyday laptops into personal AI engines. RTX Spark combines CPU, GPU, memory, and dedicated AI features to run AI agents and large language models directly on-device, without depending on constant cloud connectivity. Secure sandboxes co-developed with Microsoft isolate AI agents such as OpenClaw and Hermes Agent, promising private and tamper-resistant execution. RTX Spark-powered Windows AI computers are due this autumn from ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft Surface, and MSI, with Acer and Gigabyte to follow. Over 100 software partners, including Adobe, Riot Games, and Xbox, have committed to support the platform. Huang argues that agentic AI will drive a massive new CPU market, because billions of software agents will treat PCs as tools that need far more general-purpose compute than today’s GPU-heavy data center model.

According to Reuters reports cited by Tekedia, Nvidia has been designing Arm CPUs for Windows since at least 2023, aiming at what Jensen Huang has described as a new USD 200 billion (approx. RM920 billion) CPU opportunity. Intel and AMD still dominate traditional x86 laptops, but they lack Nvidia’s deep AI software stack built around CUDA and TensorRT. Qualcomm, meanwhile, helped establish the first wave of Copilot+ machines and improved battery life, yet it has not changed PC buying habits at scale. Nvidia enters with a brand already linked to high performance among gamers, creators, and AI developers, giving OEMs a new premium option for AI PCs that promises both speed and a familiar development environment.

Local AI processing has been a promising idea, but early Windows on Arm and Copilot+ efforts struggled to prove clear everyday benefits. Nvidia’s RTX Spark aims to shift that narrative by turning the PC into a stable endpoint for AI agents that work offline, respond quickly, and keep sensitive data on the device. If RTX Spark machines deliver consistent performance in the apps buyers care about—productivity suites, creative tools, and games—AI PCs become more than laptops with a few assistant features.
