How AI-Powered Finance Platforms Are Automating Invoice Payments and Cash Flow Management

Adfin Secures Series A to Scale AI Finance Automation

Adfin has raised €15.3 million (USD 18 million, approx. RM83.4 million) in Series A funding to accelerate its AI-powered finance platform focused on automated invoice payments and cash flow management. The round was led by Index Ventures, with participation from Visionaries Club and new backers including Stéphane Kurgan and Andrey Khusid. In less than two years since its founding, Adfin has now secured more than €25.5 million (USD 30 million, approx. RM139 million) to build what it calls an agentic money movement platform. The company targets one of the most persistent operational burdens for mid-market and growing businesses: late invoice payments and manual, error-prone payment workflows. By combining proprietary payment rails with business finance AI, Adfin aims to transform how finance teams manage collections, reconciliations, and cash positioning, reducing delays and freeing teams from repetitive administrative work.

From Invoice Payment Software to Agentic AI Money Movement

Adfin positions itself as an agentic finance platform built from the ground up for the specific demands of invoice payments. Unlike traditional invoice payment software that simply digitises existing processes, Adfin’s infrastructure uses business finance AI to decide the optimal next action for each client and each invoice. Its automated payments platform spans multiple payment methods and communication channels, selecting when to send reminders, how to route funds, and how to handle exceptions. This agentic AI approach aims to make money movement autonomous but not opaque: workflows are designed to be safe, auditable, and trackable, with human oversight when needed. By owning both the core payment infrastructure and the AI-driven workflows, Adfin says finance teams can deploy agents that handle everyday revenue collection tasks, while staff focus on higher-value activities such as managing client relationships and strategic cash flow management.

Tackling Late Payments and Cash Flow Pressures for Mid-Market Businesses

Delayed payments are a critical pain point for mid-market and growing enterprises, choking working capital and slowing expansion plans. Adfin cites data showing that nearly two-thirds of invoices sent by smaller businesses in its core market are paid late, highlighting how systemic the problem has become. Its AI finance automation tools aim to reverse this imbalance by orchestrating proactive, data-driven follow-ups and smoothing the path from invoice to cash. The company reports that only 9% of invoices managed via its platform are paid late, a stark contrast with the broader market figure. For finance teams, this means fewer manual chasers, better visibility into outstanding receivables, and more predictable cash inflows. For leadership, it translates into more confident planning around hiring, capital expenditure, and debt obligations, as cash flow management moves from reactive firefighting to automated, continuous optimisation.

Index Ventures’ Bet on AI-Driven Financial Automation

Index Ventures’ leadership in Adfin’s Series A round underscores growing investor conviction that AI-driven financial automation will define the next generation of business payments infrastructure. Having backed Adfin from pre-seed through seed, Index is now deepening its commitment on the strength of the company’s early results with more than 1,500 business customers. For investors, the appeal lies in Adfin’s blend of proprietary payment infrastructure and agentic AI, creating defensible technology in a rapidly expanding market for automated payments platforms. The fresh capital will fund product expansion into end-to-end cash flow management, including more sophisticated tools for forecasting, treasury workflows, and multi-entity money movement. It will also support engineering and sales hiring, alongside international expansion. As enterprises seek to modernise finance operations, platforms like Adfin aim to become the backbone for automated, AI-led money movement and revenue collection.
