What the Perplexity Computer agent is becoming
The Perplexity Computer agent is an always-on desktop AI assistant that connects to emails, cloud drives, dev tools, and design platforms to automate daily knowledge work, summarize activity, and feed tailored outputs into the apps people already use. Its latest updates show a clear shift from question‑answering towards AI workflow automation, where the agent runs in the background, watches ongoing projects, and generates outputs like briefings and design-ready content. This push positions Perplexity Computer as a direct challenger to traditional productivity suites that rely on manual updates and disconnected apps. Instead of users jumping between inboxes, documents, and slides, the agent aims to weave these tools together into a single, context-aware workflow. The result is less about a better AI search box and more about an integrated productivity layer that sits on top of existing systems and connects their data.

Inside the new daily digest feature
Perplexity is testing a daily digest feature that turns the Computer agent into a scheduled briefing tool. The current builds show a redesigned, still-empty digest page wired to pull updates from connectors spanning email, cloud storage, Linear, GitHub, and Notion. A dedicated settings tab lets users decide which tools supply the digest and how the updates are organized. Perplexity has been reworking its memory into a knowledge-based structure, where separate documents hold distinct slices of context; these stored insights are expected to feed each digest so that summaries feel personal instead of generic. One notable capability is marked “coming soon”: routing the digest directly into Slack, building on Computer’s existing ability to respond to DMs and run scheduled workflows there. Together, these elements turn the digest into an ambient reporting layer that monitors workspaces and delivers concise, recurring status updates.
Canva AI integration: from research to ready-made designs
The new Canva connector gives the Perplexity Computer agent a visual output channel, turning research and analysis into editable design assets. Computer can analyze meeting notes, performance data, and web content, then assemble a structured brief that flows directly into Canva. Canva converts that brief into presentations, social media campaigns, infographics, brand assets, and other visual formats, all editable with existing Brand Kit elements. According to Canva, the connector is available to Perplexity Pro, Max, Enterprise Pro and Enterprise Max subscribers and supports 11 languages, including English, Portuguese, French, German, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Russian, Chinese and Spanish. This closes a common gap in AI workflows: instead of copying text outputs into slide tools or design software, users get an automated bridge from AI research to client-ready materials. For teams, it effectively upgrades Perplexity from a research assistant into a content production engine.
AI workflow automation versus traditional productivity suites
Taken together, daily digests and Canva AI integration help Perplexity Computer move beyond a search-driven experience into comprehensive AI workflow automation. Traditional productivity suites often treat email, docs, slides, and project tools as separate silos that people must manually synchronize. Perplexity’s approach is to connect those tools, track activity through its memory system, and then generate outputs tailored to each channel: a digest to Slack, a summary from GitHub and Linear, or a presentation draft in Canva. This shifts value from isolated apps toward an AI layer that coordinates them. The daily digest feature makes Perplexity an ambient status hub, while the design connector gives it a path to polished, shareable outputs. For knowledge workers and teams, the appeal is a stack where less time goes into reshaping information and more into decision-making, as the Computer agent continually packages work into usable formats.
