X’s React with Video feature is a built-in video reply tool that lets users answer posts with TikTok-style reaction clips instead of traditional text, enabling more expressive social media reactions by recording their own video while the original post stays visible on screen in layouts such as split-screen, picture-in-picture, or green-screen formats. Available first on iOS, the video reply feature appears in the repost menu alongside Repost and Quote Post. Tap it and you can instantly record a reaction with the original post framed inside your clip. This means commentary, humor, and criticism can arrive as short videos rather than long threads. According to X’s Head of Product, Nikita Bier, the update aims to make video a more natural way to participate in conversations on the platform. Using React with Video feels closer to TikTok than to classic replies. When you choose the option from the repost menu, X opens your camera while pinning the original post on-screen. You can then pick between several layouts: picture-in-picture for a small post window over your face, split-screen to show post and creator side by side, or a green-screen-style mode that places the post behind you. These built-in tools remove the need for third-party video editors. You record, check the preview, add a caption if you like, and publish. The final video appears with the original post either superimposed or in split-screen, similar to TikTok-style videos and reactions on YouTube Shorts or Instagram Reels. Because everything happens inside X, casual users and creators can post quick takes in seconds, which could make video reply feature usage far more frequent than carefully edited uploads.

Right now the feature is rolling out on iOS, with X stating that Android and web support are coming soon. It sits alongside other recent additions like custom timelines and topic snoozing, and follows the removal of underused tools such as Communities. For X, the goal is to become a creator-focused media platform, with more original clips feeding its ad and subscription ecosystem.
