Powered by two Snapdragon processors, they run Lenses—Snap’s term for AR apps—without needing a tethered phone or PC, positioning Specs as a self-contained alternative to both smartphones and bulkier headsets.

The Snap Specs price of $2,195 (approx. RM10,100) plants them in an awkward middle ground in the AR glasses cost spectrum. According to PCMag, “Specs are available for preorder now for $2,195 with a $200 refundable deposit.” That puts them far above most smart glasses value propositions that focus on audio, cameras, and lightweight notifications, while still below high-end mixed-reality headsets such as Apple’s Vision Pro. Unlike those cheaper smart glasses that lean on a smartphone for computing, Specs are fully standalone, which partly explains the premium. Two Snapdragon chips, redesigned waveguides, prescription-ready frames, and a charging case with four additional charges all add cost. Yet the question is not whether the hardware bill matches the price, but whether the experience offered makes this level of spending feel sensible for anyone beyond enthusiasts and developers.

Judged as a product, the smart glasses value case is weaker. The Snap Specs price buys an impressive micro-display on your nose, but not yet a clear, must-have reason to keep it there. Navigation, measuring tools, and ambient AI are welcome, yet they rarely beat pulling out a smartphone that already does these tasks well. For now, Specs feel aspirational—ideal for developers, early adopters, and AR creatives who want to explore new experiences, but a stretch for mainstream buyers.
