It is a multi-effect plugin designed to bring “vintage character, analogue-style saturation and lo-fi texture” to piano chords, vocal loops, and drum beats without the hassle of building sprawling effect chains.
Retrocraft combines amp colouration, tape and vinyl emulation, speaker modelling, modulation and ambience processing into one coherent vintage effects chain. Its six modules—LoFi, Modulation, Instability, Delay, Reverb and Chop—let you move from subtle warmth and playback colouration to heavily degraded radio-style tones and experimental sound design in a few clicks. A Surprise button randomises effect combinations, which is exactly the kind of playful, semi-chaotic behaviour producers crave when inspiration stalls.
Retrocraft’s character engine draws from classic analogue gear and playback devices, but it feels unapologetically modern in workflow. Instead of stacking five plugins to reach a vibe, you start with a complex preset and “easily tweak it to make it your own,” as UJAM co-founder Peter Gorges explains.
