The Gemini Chrome expansion also brings newer creative and personalization tools. In the side panel, Nano Banana 2 acts as Google’s in-house image generator, allowing you to transform online images using a text prompt while you browse. Gemini in Chrome can remember context from earlier chats, so follow-up questions about a previous page or task feel natural. Personal Intelligence takes this further by optionally connecting services such as Gmail, Photos, YouTube and Search, so the assistant can give more tailored answers, like finding past trip photos or surfacing specific emails. Google says its models are trained to recognize known threats such as prompt injection, and Gemini will ask for confirmation before it performs sensitive actions. Why Europe Is Still Waiting for Gemini in Chrome
While Gemini browser availability has expanded quickly, Europe remains notably absent from the Chrome AI features rollout. Reporting on the launch notes that Gemini in Chrome and other Google AI tools have not yet arrived in Europe because of strict GDPR requirements around how services access and process personal data. Any AI that reads browser activity must meet rules that may require data to stay within the bloc and be handled in more constrained ways. Some users have spotted early traces of Gemini support in Chrome Canary beta builds, which suggests testing is underway, but there is no confirmed timeline for a wider release. Until Google finalizes a version that satisfies European regulators, the Chrome AI chatbot global experience will remain uneven, with European users relying on separate Gemini web access instead of the integrated sidebar.
