Synology is pairing AI data management with stronger NAS protection solutions through ActiveProtect Manager 2.0 and the new DP5200 appliance. ActiveProtect now covers more hybrid environments, adding backup and recovery support for Microsoft Azure Virtual Machines, Amazon EC2, Nutanix AHV, Proxmox VE, and Google Workspace. The update brings AI-assisted anomaly and malware detection that flags suspicious backup behavior before it becomes a major incident. An Auto Fallback feature lets administrators recover systems to the most recent uncompromised backup version, reducing downtime during attacks or corruption events. The DP5200 appliance expands deployment choices for organizations that want a dedicated platform for data protection while still integrating with DSM-based infrastructure. Surveillance and Collaboration Tools Fold into the Same DSM Ecosystem
Beyond storage and backup, Synology is pulling surveillance and collaboration into the DSM-centered ecosystem so data, video, and communications share one management plane. On the physical security side, the company presented new dome cameras, Deep Video Analytics appliances, and Surveillance365, which offers hybrid cloud monitoring of sites and devices. At the same time, Synology Office Suite grows with ChatPlus and Meet, bringing team messaging, meetings, AI-powered transcription, and translation into the same environment that stores and protects files. The Bee ecosystem now spans BeeStation, BeeStation Plus, BeeCamera, and Synology Deep Search, focusing on photos, personal files, and home monitoring data. These devices are meant as on-premises alternatives for users who want cloud-like convenience without handing everything to public cloud providers. BeeCamera feeds local video into the system, while Deep Search helps users find content across their private cloud more easily. Because the Bee Series keeps data on-site, it aligns with growing demands for data sovereignty and control over personal information.
