Defining Samsung’s AI Transformation Strategy
Samsung’s AI Transformation (AX) initiative is a company-wide program to integrate generative AI workplace tools and dedicated AI teams into everyday workflows for all employees, reshaping how development, operations, and management tasks are planned, executed, and measured to drive enterprise AI adoption and long-term productivity gains. Announced on June 9, the initiative is framed as a strategic shift in how the Samsung Group runs its businesses, not only how it designs products. The program brings AI into daily decision-making, internal collaboration, and operational processes, with a focus on software development, marketing, manufacturing, logistics and management support. By treating AI as a core capability rather than a side project, Samsung signals that corporate AI transformation is now central to its competitiveness, culture and internal digital overhaul across affiliates, including Samsung Electronics.

Opening Access to Gemini, ChatGPT and Claude for Work
A standout feature of Samsung’s AX initiative is broad access to external generative AI services, including Google Gemini, ChatGPT and Claude, across all affiliates. This is a clear move toward ChatGPT for business and similar tools, positioned as everyday utilities rather than special IT resources. According to Gizmochina, these services will support tasks that range from coding assistance and documentation drafting to marketing content, data summaries and internal reports. In manufacturing and logistics, staff can use generative AI workplace tools to generate checklists, analyze operational data or create scenario plans in natural language. Samsung describes AI as “an innovative technique that triggers fundamental changes in management, actively utilising it as a starting point for discovering new growth momentum”. The emphasis is on safe, company-wide use so that AI becomes a normal part of how teams plan, communicate and deliver work.

Training 280,000 Employees for Enterprise AI Adoption
To support large-scale enterprise AI adoption, Samsung is pairing tool access with structured training that reaches from executives to frontline staff. The company aims to provide AI education to its entire workforce of roughly 280,000 employees by the end of 2026, covering both conceptual understanding and hands-on use of generative AI workplace tools. Around 50 group presidents will attend a two-day AX Bootcamp at Samsung’s Human Resources Development Institute, while about 2,300 senior executives will take part in three-day programs scheduled to finish their first round by mid-August. Samsung plans to extend these camps to all executives by 2026 and then to broader employee groups. Dedicated AI departments within each subsidiary will guide adoption, build internal expertise and align use cases with business goals, helping ensure the AX initiative changes everyday work, not only leadership rhetoric.
AI Across Eight Core Business Processes
Beyond tools and training, Samsung has mapped AI adoption to eight major business processes: development, purchasing, manufacturing, logistics, marketing, sales, service and management support. This structure turns corporate AI transformation into a set of clear operational changes. In development and purchasing, teams can use generative AI to draft specifications, analyze supplier information and accelerate code reviews. Manufacturing and logistics are targeted for “operational innovation” through AI-assisted planning, quality checks and resource scheduling. In marketing and sales, Gemini, ChatGPT and Claude can support campaign ideas, copy variants and customer communication. For service and management support, AI can summarize incidents, prepare briefings and assist with documentation. Samsung’s stated belief is that widespread AI adoption will change working style and culture across its organizations, making AI a standard part of process design rather than an optional add-on.
Competing in the Enterprise AI Transformation Race
Samsung’s AX program positions the group in the broader race for AI-driven enterprise transformation among global tech leaders. By combining company-wide access to generative AI workplace tools with dedicated AI teams and formal training, Samsung is turning its consumer AI experience into internal capability. The initiative also reflects a strategic view that AI is now critical to business competitiveness in fast-changing markets. Samsung expects a group-wide AX Vision to be unveiled during leadership training, outlining how AI will be embedded across subsidiaries and how performance will be measured. This vision, coupled with structured deployment in eight core processes, is designed to make AI a shared language between executives, engineers and operational teams. In effect, Samsung is betting that democratized access to Gemini, ChatGPT and Claude for business will accelerate productivity gains and discovery of new business models.
