The company closed a five-week rollout on July 25, with its AI in Ads Crash Course finale explaining how an AI assistant, the Snapchat MCP server, and the Snapchat Marketing API now work together: the API still executes campaigns, while MCP becomes the query interface that both Snap’s Smart Assistant and external agents call. This comes as Snap tries to reverse an advertising slowdown, after daily active users fell to 474 million and ad revenue grew only 5% to USD 1.48 billion (approx. RM6.8 billion) in Q4 2025, before revenue growth improved to 12% and median incremental return on ad spend jumped 104% in Q1 2026. The signal is clear: Snap believes standardized AI access to campaigns is now table stakes, not a differentiator.

Artist Growth and Microsoft: MCP Servers as Workflow Engines, Not Toys
The most telling shift is happening far from developer forums. Artist Growth has launched what it calls the music industry’s first business-operations MCP server, connecting its centralized event and project management database—schedules, budgets, ticket buy approvals, EPKs, streaming data—directly into AI assistants like ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and Copilot. Music teams can now generate tour itineraries or run-of-show documents in seconds using plain language prompts, instead of digging through scattered spreadsheets. Crucially, role-based permissions move with the data, so talent agencies and labels keep strict control over what each user and agent can see. In sales, Microsoft is expanding MCP inside Dynamics 365 Sales, with seven partners—ZoomInfo, Dun & Bradstreet, LeadIQ, Draup, Gong, Enlyft, and HG Insights—feeding account enrichment, buying signals, risk data, and conversation intelligence straight into Dynamics 365 sales agents. Microsoft’s Sales MCP server lets those agents retrieve sales data, draft emails, and recommend next actions without leaving the CRM. Together, these moves show MCP servers becoming enterprise workflow engines, not experimental side projects.

Enterprise MCP: Kubernetes-Ready and Governed Like Real Infrastructure
The protocol itself is evolving to match enterprise expectations. The latest MCP specification release on 2026-07-28 abandons the legacy stateful architecture, making MCP behave more like stateless HTTP services. Historically, running MCP at scale meant sticky routing and shared session state; now organizations can run MCP servers behind standard load balancers and their existing Kubernetes and DevOps tooling, cutting deployment friction for MCP Kubernetes deployment. Long-running tasks have been turned into an extension and made asynchronous, so batch operations no longer block agent requests. In advertising, the fact that Snap joins other major platforms on MCP means campaign controls are converging on one protocol. The strategic truth is blunt: the winners of AI agents workflow automation will be those who treat MCP-style connectivity as a core capability, not an afterthought.
