In the 2026.5 release, Boris FX adds Point Track ML to Mocha Pro tracking software, bringing a learning-based point tracker into the familiar planar and PowerMesh workflow. This new mode analyses motion across the whole sequence rather than frame by frame, so it copes better with occlusions, fast motion, shadows and exposure changes that usually break conventional trackers. The headline feature in Mocha Pro 2026.5 is AI-powered Point Track ML inside PowerMesh, aimed at deforming surfaces like cloth and skin that often defeat standard planar tracking technology. Instead of failing when a limb crosses a torso or when clothing folds heavily, the AI point tracker learns motion patterns across the clip and can ignore short occlusions, lighting shifts and shadows. Boris FX notes that Point Track ML can track surfaces that turn away from the camera and back again, a behaviour that was previously out of reach for typical point or planar trackers. For VFX artists, this unlocks cleaner mesh tracking on creased clothing, subtle facial movement, and body warps needed for digital makeup or tattoo replacements, with far less manual cleanup and fewer tracking restarts on so‑called “trick shots” that used to require heavy hand animation.
AdjustTrack, Masking Enhancements and VFX Workflow Automation
Beyond the core AI point tracking VFX improvements, Mocha Pro 2026.5 focuses on VFX workflow automation. Point Track ML now powers Auto Nudge in the AdjustTrack module, which detects drifting points in a finished track and corrects them automatically instead of forcing artists to tweak every point by hand. A new Refine Mode supports higher-resolution analysis, while editable meshes and conversion of PowerMesh tracks back to planar data keep the workflow flexible for different compositing targets. On the masking side, Object Brush, Mask ML, Refine Matte ML and Matte Assist ML receive upgrades like Auto Region of Interest and keyframeable search areas, yielding finer edges and fewer matte artefacts on difficult shots. The Curve Editor gains per‑vertex PowerMesh keyframe editing for targeted corrections.
