On supported devices, Gemini Intelligence will power a “Create My Widget” tool that lets you describe a custom widget in natural language and have the watch build it into a Wear Widget. Gemini’s Neural Express design language will extend across the interface, surfacing context-aware suggestions based on your activity and personal data stored in services like Gmail or Docs when Personal Intelligence is enabled. Smartwatch battery life is a core part of the Wear OS 7 update, and Google says users can expect an average 10% improvement in endurance over Wear OS 6. These gains come from software optimisation rather than hardware changes, which means Pixel Watch 2, 3 and 4 owners should all see longer runtimes between charges, especially when combined with the Pixel Watch 4’s faster charging hardware. Power savings are paired with better media handling: a new remote audio output switcher lets you move playback between headphones, phone speakers and other devices, even when the phone is not in hand. Per-app media auto-launch controls give you more say over when playback screens appear on the watch. Together, these changes cut down on unnecessary screen-on time while making audio control more predictable, helping both usability and smartwatch battery life.

Future-Proofing with Smartglasses and Google’s Device Ecosystem

Beyond the initial Wear OS 7 update, Google is signalling a broader ecosystem play that connects Pixel Watch features with upcoming smartglasses. The platform adds connected device controls that reach beyond earbuds and home speakers to include Google’s Android XR smartglasses, co-developed with partners and planned for release later this year. For example, photos taken with those glasses can be reviewed instantly on a Pixel Watch, and playback across audio devices can be coordinated from the wrist.
