Yet Meta is now reportedly testing super-sensing features where microphones and cameras are always active and executives are planning not to activate the LED when those features run. That means people around the wearer cannot tell if or when they are being recorded, especially when the prototype already takes photos every few seconds while recording ambient audio. The company is even considering adding these features to existing glasses via software. This is a whiplash-inducing reversal: from reinforcing the recording light to quietly designing around it.
