ExpertBook Ultra Lands as an Ultralight Business Flagship
Asus is pushing harder into the premium professional segment with the arrival of the Asus ExpertBook Ultra (B9406CAA), an ultralight business laptop that weighs just 990g, or about 2.18 pounds. That makes it a compelling portable laptop under 3 pounds for executives and frequent flyers who prioritise mobility without sacrificing capability. The machine is built around a slim 14‑inch chassis that measures just 16.4mm at its thickest point, yet it integrates high-end components and connectivity tuned for business use. The focus is clearly on delivering a no-compromise work tool in a form factor that slips easily into a briefcase or cabin bag. With this launch, Asus is signalling that its ExpertBook line is not just about durability and security, but also about leading the ultralight business laptop category in sheer portability.

Panther Lake Performance in a 2.2-Pound Chassis
Inside the ExpertBook Ultra, Asus opts for Intel’s latest Panther Lake platform, positioning the device as a cutting-edge Panther Lake laptop for professionals. The configuration currently offered pairs an Intel Core Ultra X7 358H 16-core processor with Intel Arc B390 12-core integrated graphics, aiming to handle demanding productivity, light creative work, and video conferencing with ease. The 14‑inch tandem OLED display offers a resolution of 2880 x 1890 and up to 600 nits of brightness, reinforcing its premium credentials for content viewing and on-the-go presentations. Up to 32GB of LPDDR5x memory is onboard, alongside a 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD in an M.2 2280 slot for fast storage. While Asus has hinted at even higher-spec variants with more powerful CPUs and expanded memory and storage, the current model already showcases how much performance can be packed into a sub‑1kg business laptop.
Design, Connectivity and the Cost of Going Premium
The ExpertBook Ultra’s design emphasises both aesthetics and practicality. Its chassis uses a magnesium-aluminium alloy treated with Asus’s “ceraluminum” process to deliver a ceramic-like, scratch‑resistant finish that suits boardrooms as much as airport lounges. Despite the slim profile, the laptop includes a healthy port selection: dual Thunderbolt 4 ports, two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type‑A ports, HDMI 2.1, and a 3.5mm audio jack. Wireless connectivity is equally up to date with Wi‑Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6.0, while a 70Wh battery, six speakers, and dual microphones support extended work sessions and clear calls. Security and conferencing features include a 1080p webcam with a privacy shutter and AI upscaling, an IR camera for face recognition, and a fingerprint sensor. Acknowledging its business focus, the machine ships with Windows 11 Pro and a 3‑year warranty, underlining its positioning as a high-end tool for professional environments.
Zenbook A14 Expands Asus’s Pro‑Travel Lineup
Alongside the ExpertBook Ultra, Asus is broadening its appeal to mobile professionals with the latest Zenbook A14. This model continues the brand’s focus on lightweight, forward‑thinking design and outstanding endurance, offering more than 33 hours of battery life to minimise time spent tethered to a power outlet. When you do need to top up, 100W fast charging helps restore usable capacity quickly, reinforcing its role as a travel‑friendly companion. The 14‑inch Asus Lumina OLED display supports media creation and editing, while an 18‑core Snapdragon X2 Elite processor targets demanding multitasking and productivity workloads. Like the ExpertBook, the Zenbook A14 uses a ceraluminum chassis and weighs under 1kg, carving out its own space as a portable laptop under 3 pounds. With 16GB of DDR5 RAM, 512GB of storage, Wi‑Fi 7, and multiple USB (including USB 4.0) ports, it complements the ExpertBook Ultra as a more broadly oriented, endurance‑focused option.
