Android’s new protections extend far beyond phone calls to cover the entire lifecycle of an attack. To defend against account takeovers, Android will automatically hide one-time passwords in SMS from most apps for three hours, keeping malicious software from reading codes while they are valid. For those who opt into Advanced Protection Mode, intrusion logging and strengthened USB and accessibility safeguards take on the burden of constant vigilance. The overarching strategy is clear: shift Android security from reactive alerts to proactive, automatic threat blocking that stops scams and malware before they can do harm.
