On the data side, IBM is tying real-time event streaming to watsonx.data via its Confluent acquisition, adding a semantic context layer that enforces governance at runtime and supports explainable decisions. Together with IBM Concert for infrastructure and security operations, and IBM Sovereign Core for policy-embedded runtime environments, IBM aims to make orchestration—not isolated models—the centerpiece of AI operations management.
Sovereignty, Real-Time Data and the New Enterprise Risk Plane
Scaling AI pilots is not just a technical challenge; it is a governance and sovereignty problem. As agentic systems proliferate, enterprises risk ending up with “agent sprawl” that is hard to monitor and even harder to regulate.
