What Is X’s React with Video Feature?
X’s React with Video feature is a built-in video reply tool that lets users record TikTok-style reactions to existing posts, combining their camera feed with the original post on one screen so audiences can see both the content and the creator’s response in a single, seamless video reply. Instead of replying only with text or a quote post, you can now respond in a more expressive, visual way. The feature keeps the original post visible while you record, so you can refer to it as you react, explain, critique, or break down what you are seeing. According to The Tech Portal, X’s Head of Product Nikita Bier says the goal is to make video a more natural way to take part in conversations across the platform.
Where to Find X Video Reactions in the App
React with Video lives inside the usual repost options, so you do not need to hunt through new menus. On iOS, open any post on X and tap the repost icon beneath it; alongside standard Repost and Quote Post options, you will see the React with Video feature. Choose it to open the camera with the post pinned on-screen. From there, you can switch cameras, adjust framing, and start recording your reaction. X has said the feature will reach Android and the web client after iOS, so if you do not see it yet on those platforms you will need to wait for the rollout. Until then, you can still view video reactions in your feed as they appear, much like other video posts and replies.
How to Record and Share a Video Reaction
Creating X video reactions is designed to be quick. After selecting React with Video from the repost menu, your camera opens with the original post locked on-screen. Press record to film your response while you read or reference the content you are reacting to. You can pause and resume if you need a moment to gather your thoughts. When finished, trim or re-record before posting. The reaction publishes as a new video reply that visually includes the original post, rather than as a plain text comment or quote. Followers can tap through to the original content, and others can repost or reply to your video as they would any post. This turns replies into mini video episodes instead of short text snippets, favoring richer commentary over one-line responses.
Layout Options: Picture-in-Picture, Split-Screen, and More
A key advantage of React with Video is that you do not need external editing apps to achieve polished TikTok-style reactions. X includes several presentation styles directly inside the feature. You can place your camera feed in picture-in-picture over the post, arrange it in a split-screen layout, or use a green-screen-style view where the post fills the background while you speak in front. The Tech Portal notes that these video reply tools mirror reaction formats popular on TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Instagram Reels, where this type of commentary often attracts large audiences. Because everything is built-in, creators, journalists, and influencers can react quickly while still giving viewers a clear view of the original post they are discussing.
Why TikTok-Style Reactions Matter on X
X’s push into TikTok-style reactions is part of a broader shift from a text-first network to a creator-focused media platform. The Tech Portal reports that X has introduced long-form video uploads, improved livestreaming tools, a dedicated video experience, and a vertical video feed where users swipe through clips in a TikTok-like format. According to The Tech Portal, “video views on X grew by around 40% over the last few years,” and the platform’s user base reached about 550 million in March 2026. By making it easier to post video replies without editing software, X aims to encourage more original commentary instead of basic reposts. For everyday users, that means replies can feel more personal, while for creators it opens another way to engage audiences and stand out in crowded timelines.
